Piledriver Carbine .457

Getting ready for another firearms deer season!

November 15 here in Michigan!

Traded in my Texan last year for a Hatsan Piledriver and after hunting with it and shooting a doe at 72 yards... I decided I wanted to make it shorter this year for easy carry and better manuver ability! Think it's gonna be sweet!!!

Factory the barrel was 34 inches...I had 10 inches removed!

Will be testing tomorrow afternoon...have a bunch of different slugs to try.

Be sure to keep us updated. Really curious how the accuracy will be affected more so than power. Are you changing any springs or whatnot to use less air? I would think ( usually gets me in trouble) that the factory tune is set up for the added barrel volume and reducing that could mean wasted air because the slug is exiting the barrel much earlier than before.

FWIW mine loves the NSA 350~ BT-HP for accuracy and the knurled bthp’s are my top choice hunting round.

Just thought of another thing, might be too much to matter or im just dead wrong so ill pound sand if it is or i am.. but the 34” barrel has a 3rd harmonic at about 22.6” so another inch and a half or so off would put the muzzle real close to a node. When you said 10” it made me look where I tuned a limbsaver resonator, and its right on/at about that 3rd harmonic spot about 12” from the muzzle…Just a thought if its squirrely even after some hs adjustments. Here I go thinkin’ about airguns again and on a Sunday morning when I should be in church praying for a 60/60 FT card.

Don't read into that Node stuff. Different guns, different barrel thickness, different tension on the barrel, different pressures, different valve timing; there is no way of telling. Besides its unregulated. Pressures and so called "nodes" will be changing at every shot.

Hear ya loud n clear. Pretend it never got posted. No need for that rabbit hole here, apologies all.

Well only had a short session today but the 281 knurled Neilsens were the best... only filling to 250 bar today just to get a base line on accuracy! Where I hunt I'm not going to get a shot much past 75 yards so even at 425fpe I'm getting the job done...will stretch her out a little more this weekend!

3 shot average of 826 and this is the last 5 at 50 yards!
