UPDATED (NEW PICS) Kalibrgun Cricket 150 yard group

Took my new cricket out to the range this weekend to test it at 150 yards. This is the first time I decided to stretch out the gun beyond the standard 50 to 100 yards I shoot at and my first time shooting 150 yards.

The first group I shot almost made me question my abilities at a shooter :) Pretty terrible if I may say so. Almost depressing.

However after a little practice and getting my breathing under control along with some proper wind estimation, was able to get the pellets to group much tighter. Both groups posted below.

150 yards is a whole new game. Too many variables to consider. I am hoping that with some more practice, I should be able to get the groups tighter than this.

GROUP 1- 16 shots (what in the world is that !!!!!! A 12 inch group)

GROUP 2- 12 shots (That's about 3.5 inches)

Thanks Aj. 150 is truly tough. Plan to permanently move now to 150 yards and master it. So more groups will be posted. :)

Will take time and patience and an impeccable understanding of wind. That's where the real challenge is. Even a slight change in wind can pretty much whack the pellet off its trajectory. Thinking of using wind flags at multiple distances. The place where I shoot has fairly crazy cross winds. They don't stay consistent and that increases the challenge.

"FunGun"Noticed the same thing Paul did about the horizontal alignment. Very very impressive. What do you give credit to the change in the two groups? What did you do on your part to tighten up the group? Breathing? Change in rest? Contact with the gun? Trigger pull? OK, I'm thru guessing, what did it for you? :)
Thanks FunGun. Mostly all the above. :) Started pulling the trigger slowly to achieve a surprise break, timed the trigger squeeze to the pause in between breaths. Basically followed all the basics.

"MosesM"What caliber are you shooting. If it's .25, try the new JSB Heavy Kings. They really make a difference with my Cricket at long range.

Thanks for the tip Moses. I've Been waiting for the JSB Heavy to come in to the country where I stay. Import costs here are prohibitive. So will have to wait till one of the local dealers get them in. Longing to try those out.

"billydjann"150 yards.... Wow.... and here I am happy with my 50 yard shots..
Gee.... maybe I will try some day , but not soon..

;-)
We all started at 50 yards chief. If you can get your basics right at 50, longer shots aren't too far away. And of course having a good pellet and gun combination always helps. Am still a novice at this. There are far better shooters on this forum all of whom are more than willing to share their experiences. Hopefully I'll get better with time. :)

New day, new group.

Changes made to Cricket over last weekend.

1. Trigger adjusted to give a much shorter first stage and a much crisper second stage. It's a hairline trigger now. Just the way I like it.

2. Finally got a good pair of UTG mounts for picatinny base and fixed my MTC Viper connect 3-12X32 scope to it. I love this baby.

Both tweaks seem to have paid off. Here is my best 5 shot group at 150. The orange sticker is my aiming point. That's where I kept the crosshair at. Everything was going perfect. I had 4 shots practically in the same hole and then I got excited. It always happens. :(:(

The excitement made me pull the trigger and the 5th shot got whacked. Felt like jumping off a bridge man. If I had just kept my calm the group would have been a .5 inch group.

This one is the cricket at 120 yards. The circle target is 3.6 inches.

Nice little expanded pellets after hitting the metal target. Looks a lot like the pocket buttons on Levi's jeans.

This is my trusted old spinner I used to use with my hatsan. After a few shots at 40 yards the spinner gave up. The chicken and the pigeon are no more. :) :) they broke off and left their companions behind.
