PI Airgun Hunting

Don't know if there're any Filipino airgun hunters who hang out here or not but I thought I'd show some of the guys some of the AG hunting I do over there on our yearly trip from stateside. This was my 14th trip this last May, and I finally found some hunting over there I could participate in when I go. I have been buying my nephews some Eskopeta airguns and related gear over there for some time now, and have had some of the best varminting of my life over there now. Several years ago I procured an airgun pistol from a buddy in Mindanao "for another nephew." THis little pistol shoots lights out with the local Eskopeta and even Parco pellets, and has been responsible for the demise of many a daga (rat) in the local dump recycling shed. Stuck a 2X Swift pistol scope (and flashlight) on top of the Weaver base that my buddies gunsmith steel epoxied to the barrel believe it or not, but i'll be darned if it doesn't work great. Here's my nephew Noli who was a natural with an air pistol and handgun scope. Very fast at target acquisition and killed a bunch of rats in the couple nights we hunted together--

This past year though I found out one of the typhoons took out the shed roof...so no more daga. Man was I disappointed--

THis is the Undertaker model of airgun that Eskopeta custom made for "another nephew" last year. Stuck a 3-9X PFI Rapid Reticle designed for 22 Long Rifle. Didn't get an opportunity to use it much though since I didn't realize it was a CO2 gun instead of compressed air (blame it on night shift?). Next year we'll try for a long range palaka (frog) I hope--

Here's my nephew Rommer with his 65-yd. palaka he took with the PFI a couple years ago before it went on my airpistol at 25 MOA up from 20-yd. zero I think it was according to Chairgun--

I thought the decals might add some fun to it. Never did anything to a scope like that. Besides that the import laws are a bit vague and hard to find info on really, so I thought this might add some viablility to a claim that they were going on airguns that we use for hunting "varmints" there. Some optics can be transported and some can't. These aren't any problem but they discovered that 2X pistol scope in my luggage in check-in Seoul during a short layover and questioned me about it--very professionally I might add. They checked the rest infront of me and then sent me on my way no problem. You have to be careful though when transporting gun stuff internationally.

We actually shot out to 70 yds. with that little pistol one day in a town called Ligao, maybe 20 miles or so from the Mayan Volcano--one of the 7 natural wonders of the world that really is something spectacular to see. Here's my buddy John that shot the pistol out to about 70 yds. and Chairgun was pretty close to being on even out to thatrange. We exchanged shots on a rock out that far and even hit it a few times. Note the vial cap target turret I improvised on the Swift. Crude, but it works. Mayan V. was just off John's left shoulder maybe 10 miles away but in the clouds unfortunately--

You guys might like this story. This is 1 of my wife's cousins over there a dear friend of mine Norman. I was out with another nephew (you tend to inherit a bunch of them in the Philippines) shooting ibon (birds) when he comes driving up on hs motorcycle. I told him what we were doing and let him try it some and he immediately hears a bird makes a 5-yd. stalk and nails it at about 20 yds. with the little rig. t fell in the canopy and took some time to find. But we had to get the picture one way or the other. From that day on when ever we drove by his place I'd hang out the tricycle and yell out "Hoy (Hey), Norman One-Shot". He saw me once as I passed by and when I yelled at him he turned and looked at me grinning from ear to ear. It was great--

But that's not the only kind of argunning they do over there. Those that are into it and have the money have some top end stuff that's highly coveted from "Cano's like me".
