Yesterday was a nice, warm sunny December day without much wind on the nursery, but I could tell treachery was afoot. I was innocently driving down one of the nursery roads, and came upon 2 squirrels chasing each other up and down round and round a tree. Knew it had to be one of 2 things: Something to do with mating or They were preparing to attack. I heard them making their jibbery style bark-ery, so I google translated it(in my mind) to be: "Death to the infidel humans!" and "Soon we will rule the world!" and "Let's eat more fermented nuts!" My worst fears were confirmed; they were part of SquirrEl-Qaeda! I knew that the only thing stopping them from total and utter world domination was me and my trusty .177 airgun. I had to act fast. I pulled my truck to the side and took up a defensive position 35 yards off their six, downwind in the shade. I could smell the their foul stench, all hopped-up on fermented wally-nuts. Nervously, I shouldered the rifle, adjusted the scope parallax, and chambered a round. I knew at this distance, I had to be precise. I had to be patient and wait for just the right moment. Had to get my heartbeat and breathing under control. If I miss or give away my position, they would close the gap on me and rip me to shreds before I could get off another shot and the world would be lost.

I waited for one to run up the tree a bit while the other one lingered near the base. Pphhtt! The .177 JSB 8.44g @ 860fps hit the mark and down went the first one. I quickly located the second one which had immediately rushed back down the tree a was looking at his comrade on the ground. Pphhtt! I unleashed another volley of.177 fury at his melon and turned his lights out too.

I was just starting to move from cover to retreive the carcasses when another(obviously higher ranked and more dangerous) squirrel appeared, coming down from the top of a different tree(probably to scold the troops for layin' down on the job). I hadn't seen him at all. Damn sneaky nutters! This one had to be upper echelon, possibly a general or at least squad leader. Only one thing was for certain: he was hell bent on destoying humanity and world domination. It was up to me stop him, so I chambered another round. Yardage was a little less(maybe 30), but not enough to matter with the flat-shooting .177. Pphhtt! Put a 8.44g pill right through his bean and he dropped like a sack of guts. When it was safe, I emerged, did a quick recon, and collected the bodies:

Upon inspection of the bodies, I discovered that they were all male. Thus confirming my suspicion that their skittish activities were in preparation for war and not mating(but then again, I don't know what gender they "related to", so...) The nursery workers that I gave the squirrels to assured me(as they licked their lips) that they would abscond clandestinely with the bodies and bury them at somewhere at sea(and not just eat them), so that they wouldn't become martyrs for the cause.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Pesting is a lonely and dangerous job. Thankless too sometimes, but that doesn't bother me. I'll sleep soundly knowing that humanity(and the world as we know it) is safe for at least for one more day😜

Thanks guys! It does wonders for my morale hearing such support. Makes all my effort "in the trenches" feel worthwhile. I hope that all are comforted(or at least entertained😜) by my continued and relentless fight against the evils that lurk in the black hearts and tiny minds of squirrels. I endeavor to increase my efforts to prevent squirreldom from their goal of world domination and enslaving the entire human race to toil on endless acres of tree nut farms. 🇺🇸
