Pellet pieces in breech, moderator--Photos

On the first shot of Evanix Rex P .50 cal, a fingernail-sized piece of lead remains sometimes. And there are debris in the moderator and/or extender. Any ideas on a fix...or is it a flaw?

Thats why you are recommended to go plus 2 or plus 3 caliber sizes up due to the crappy machine work.

Got a HUGE bunch of followers MOST don't even know the scoops though even I buy them just to compare got several drawers of different brands and models of LDCs.

By speaking up only calls for improvement in the airgunning industry whether being far better QC and far better customer service on the firefighter thread I posted.

Now if said LDC really cost $10 - $20 to manufacture from China at least pay $5 extra to have them Chinese folks machine the threads better. Offer to pay $2 extra for the $5 threaded adapters. Based on 10 fold conservative profit margin. I used to buy a lot from China and resell too that's how I know. Margin can be up to 20 fold even 50 fold in some instances so I went the lowest being conservative as the profit margin as to not to shock anyone if the LDCs actually cost $5 to $10 and $3 for thethreaded adapters.

Just up the price of the LDCs another $5 and the threaded adapters up by $2 it's so simple.

Look at the Eagle Vision $14.99 regular price AOA Vulcan - Uragan threaded adapter. They still makimg a killing selling them for under $15 each through second party-? (AOA). Smart ppl cross reference that 14x1 adapter fits other gun brand applications too for UNDER $15 REGULAR PRICE threads are absolutely perfect no complaints.

Don't hate-!

My experience with DonnyFL products have been good. I have found no flaws in his quality. Granted, I have not personally purchased many DonnyFL products, perhaps many less than Odoyle. Further, I don't recall ever hearing or reading of anyone being unhappy with their DonnyFL experience. In that light, perhaps others can respond with their quality issues they have experienced.

I do NOT believe buying a LDC with an oversize bore is a correct action for clipping. It's a Band-Aid! There is an alignment issue between the barrel and the LDC, fix that. .020" (.5 mm) is more than adequate diametrical clearance between the pellet and the LDC bore.

How, if one does not own machinery?

You make a tool of course. The tool I use is a piece of precision shafting whose diameter matches the bore size at the muzzle. The key is to know that size and it depends on the amount of choke used in the barrel. The easiest way to do that of course is to use a set of pin gauges. I know most folks here do not own them, but every machine shop will have at least one set. In this set will be a large number of pins in .001" increments. You simple place pins in the muzzle end of the barrel and then find the largest pin that the barrel will accommodate..That is then the size of your test rod. The rod will usually be purchasable though a tool supply house like McMaster Carr. To use the tool, you simply insert it through the mounted moderator into the barrel. If your alignment is correct you will have the same clearance all around the exit hole of the moderator. If you don't, you will suffer clipping..

I found that using some Teflon tape (like Mega Tape) on the threads of the barrel helped center the moderator and overcome clipping. You have to be careful on the amount you use. And you want to use it towards the muzzle portion of the threads, and not over the entire length of the threads. Otherwise when you thread the moderator onto the barrel, the tape will get pushed towards the back end of the threads and it will bunch up preventing you from fully threading it on. You only need about 3 wraps of the tape to do the trick. Then again, Mega Tape is about 2x's as thick as normal Teflon tape. So maybe 4-6 wraps. But my rifle was notoriously clipping until I did this. Once I resolved the issue, the gun instantly because a tack driver with the right slug.
