Pellet head size

I have noticed pellets sized all the way head and skirt has a difference in springers more than PCPs and have experienced better accuracy in some but not all guns. HW springers liked sized pellets the most. Specifically 0.1785 using the old Beeman Pell sizer and tried all sizes and all calibers and this one stood out the most.

I had a Beeman RX1 in .20 cal and it did benefit from using a Beeman sizer with the Japanese made 11gr Silver Jet pellets. Excellent accuracy and additional 15 fps to boot.

Seems to me that sizing the skirt is an unnessessary step. The barrel will do it for you when loading and firing the pellet.

That is true depending on how deep you seat the pellet. If the pellet isn't seating deep enough to form it to the bore then some blow by will occur if the skirt edge is either damaged or out of round.

The 14.5 gr Sig Venom's are very accurate. Go figure ?? They also average in the 840's for velocity. Bottom line....stick with tighter pellets in your magnum springer.

Hey, do you have any chance to measure the BC for the SIG Venom Leads? Say, 10 shots at least 30 or 40y out over the (protected) chrono, and recording the weather data (local pressure mainly, and temp).

That would be a huge help to all of us who watch the BC in order to reduce wind drift and impact power.... 😊
