Peep sight on a springer

I ordered A Williams peep way back in October of last year. It was out of stock everywhere. The item was placed on backorder.

Well I guess it came in stock because I received an email telling me thank you for my order. The package arrived today.

I mounted it on a HW95 and sighted it at 15 yards. I'm liking it!

I used to have one of those peep sights on my Feinwerkbau 124 back in the early 80s and really liked it. I could dial the elevation up and down and refer to the tick marks for trajectory control. The aperture helped make the front sight stay more in focus but of course my eyes were a lot younger back then.

I still have the rifle and refurbished it with parts from air rifle headquarters, including one of the last of their nice laminate stocks. Of course now I have a scope on it.

I own two Williams peep sights. For one I bought the Williams "Twilight" aperature. It's big and lets in lots of light to the eye. For the other, from Champion Choice I bought a Gehman adjustable aperature. It requires #7 by 40 threads. Most of the ones they sell won't fit the Williams.

It's interesting to dial in different aperatures and when the aperature is very small rhe target is in focus and depth or field is far. When you dial a large aperature lots of light hits your eye and depth of field is short and target may be fuzzy. Of course this is how F stops on cameras work. I really like the Gehman, it's worth the money.

I have one of these sights, the Beeman marked "sport" sight with target knobs. The plan is to use it on a 12lb rifle, if I ever get one.

Actually had two, one I got used, cleaned it up and sold it but kept the new one I got off Ebay. Like the shooter above, my eyes aren't much suited for irons anymore. But this sight will work fine for me on a short range paper target gun.
