PCP's are Addictive!

I think, in some cases, it is the shopping for new PCPs that is addictive. Receiving the air rifle itself can be an anti-climax that drives you to start looking for next one. My wife seems to be the same with handbags.

Sometimes you get one that you are delighted with and it halts the obsession for a while but then, there is always something new and shiny to start the compulsion all over again. If not a new rifle, then you convince yourself that you need a new scope that is capable of seeing flees on the moon to help improve your 50 yard groups. Or perhaps, thermal imaging.

Other members start talking about this amazing new air rifle. We don't want to feel left out and we can't stand knowing that other people might own a better air gun than we do. They make it worse by discussing how much better it is than your favorite gun. It's so much lighter, more accurate and more powerful yet it has only half the noise and double the shots. Your $1500 gun starts appearing in the classifieds left right and center for $950 and people abandon them like rats off a sinking ship. The next thing you know, you have one less kidney and a large package awaiting your signature at the front door.

Then, you shoot it and realize that your one doesn't put 20 pellets in the same hole at 150 yards like everyone else's and it didn't turn you into a world class sniper overnight. You must need a new air rifle, or a tune, or a new scope....

Let’s fast forward to 2023,and I’m here .I didnt get here overnight, either,At some point I crossed that Line. Lol. I used to hand pump and may still be if I didnt start purchasing 480cc bottle guns.My nearest dive shop is 40 miles one way,and they want me to bring the 97 cu ft. great Whites one day, then return the following day to pick them up once they full.Thats too much driving. So,what I did rather than start purchasing the cheap compressors that fill guns only, nor before I started to invest ina “real” compressor that was gonna be at least $3000 for the kind I want,I decided to go a different route, entirely.I leased a 494 cu ft ,6000psiNitrogen cylinder from Airgas.I then, purchased an Extreme Booster Pump from Extreme Big Bore.I also purchased a Makita 6.5cfm@90 psi shop compressor, and…voila!!!!! I can now shoot years on one tank of Nitrogen in between swaps of the cylinder.I am going on 3 years, and that steel cylinder still has 4000 psiin it.So,no, I dont have an addiction problem here.I’m just getting started at age 50!
