"PCP Air Gun Shooting" for Dummies (Everything Explained)

I received this email today so I thought I would share my response for anyone who is new to this sport. This pertains mostly to how to participate affordably and how the Air filling works.

I apologize for the questions, but I'm new to this PCP stuff. I literally know almost nothing about this HPA stuff and what fittings, hoses, and such you need to both get it filled when you run out and what's needed to fill your rifle up. I've asked this type of stuff on other forums and no one would reply to explain it to me.

Thanks - xxxxxxxx

Hey, So your gun will come with a "fill probe". …all the stuff is 1/8th hose and fittings, same as Paintball. You need to get a coupler that is a called a 1/8th Foster Fitting Quick Disconnect Nipple, that will go on your fill probe so you can plug it into your tank or hand pump. It has 1/8 BSPP threads. You can fill your PCP with a Hand Pump or Scuba Tank. Most PCP guns operate at 200 BAR (1 BAR = 15 PSI) 200 BAR is 3000PSI, a few guns operate on 230 bar, 250 bar, or 300 bar which is 4500 PSI. You can get a 4500 PSI Carbon Fiber SCBA Tank and you can get that filled at the Scuba shop or with your own $235 PCP Yong Heng compressor. You can get a Hydro Test at your local Fire Equipment Company or Paintbal Shop for $20. You also need what's called a PCP Fill station.

1/8 fill probe coupler

$40 PCP hand Pump

$235 Compressor

$75 4500 PSI Tank (They expire after 15 years so get 2008 or newer)

$40 fill station

P.S. Guns with "regulators" will be WAY more accurate. You want a Regulator like in the Fortitude.
