Why an Airgun Expo?

Attendees: The Pacific Airgun Expo is intended to bring together all segments of the airgun community including; vendors, dealers, importers, manufacturers, customizers, repair, collectors, accessory dealers, as well as new and experienced airgunners. Here you will find assistance with repair, appraisal, accessories, or airgun purchases. Learn about airgun shooting and competition. We encourage people to bring in grandpa's old pellet gun, get it fixed, see what it is worth, sell it, or trade it in on a new model. Two days of buying, selling, trading, shooting, learning about or displaying airguns.

Vendors: The Pacific Airgun Expo primarily exists to educate the shooting sports public about the airgun hobby and industry. By exposing people to airgunning, Pacific Airgun Expo hopes to bring more people into the sport which will allow the vendors and manufacturers to grow their market and be able to continue to make the cool equipment we all enjoy. Without the vendors and manufacturers our sport by necessity remains small, so it is our biggest goal to bring new people into the hobby thereby supporting the people that make and sell the stuff we need.

Update:

Hello fellow airgunners! I've been getting a lot of questions about if the show is still on because of fears of Corona virus. The short answer is YES the show is on. I am in contract to pay the facility rental even if we canceled, so we may as well have a show. Besides, I hope none of you are really afraid of the flu. Corona has been around for a very long time, it's not new, and far more people are dying from the common flu than from Corona. In some people's opinion it is another opportunity for the secret state that really runs the world to create fear in the population. I don't know about that, but I'm not afraid. I'm going to an airgun show!

We have 12 vendors that have signed up, and I hear there are some great collections coming.

As usual, our marketing is grass roots. The show does not make the kind of money the big gun shows bring in to support significant advertising. Please help spread the word on social media and in your local community by hanging fliers at your local sporting goods, gun stores, and gun ranges (you can find fliers to print out on the website). You could even run a cheap classified ad in your own local newspaper or in one of the many small town newspapers surrounding the show area (I'll be running a larger ad in the Sacramento Bee). If you want to see an airgun show on the west coast in the future, please help spread the word to help this year's show be the best it can be.

What would be another big help is if you do business with a vendor, ask them to come have a presence; we have plenty of vendor tables available.

I get some complaints that I should be renting a hall closer to a metropolis, like Sacramento itself, rather than being a half hour outside, and my position is if we ever make enough money off the show where it is, I'll gladly pay the money forward to rent a better location, but so far the show has averaged a few hundred dollars profit, and I just can't afford to spend a lot more. Our location in Placerville is $1800, plus the newspaper ad and a guard, that's about the most I can afford to spend upfront. The first two shows put on by other people invested a lot more money than I do, but they lost money on the ventures, so that's not sustainable. I'm doing the best I can with what I've got, it's only you all that can help make it be big enough to grow, if that's even possible.

I keep hoping, in fact I expect our industry to grow. Today's airguns are amazing, and there are so many different ways to enjoy our hobby and sport. Or it could be that we will forever be a niche in the shooting sports and we're already as big as we'll ever be.

To save money Leslie and I will likely be sleeping in the van at the Red Hawk Casino RV lot. I know some of the rest of you are too; let's get together Friday evening at one of the bars in the casino and talk airguns! And of course we'll have a get together at the Placerville Brewing company across the street from the fairgrounds Saturday after the show.
