so I grabbed a beeman p17 for $5 from PA with a $25 off coupon from the AAG contest entry and have decided on a layout for this single pump.

It's a nice little pistol! trigger seems very workable, power isnt bad with cphp. accuracy is good @ 10y with the fiber sights, so a 2x or 3x scope should be a great addition for 15-20y. Its on the large end of the size spectrum, compared to the rotary mag pellet pistols. but still smaller than a umarex strike point, the 1377/1322 and most breakbarrel pistols, about the size of a HighPoint .40sw/.45acp. Material quality seems decent, just some molding flash here and there. not a fan of the fake mag release, or the ports and side scallops on the end of the barrel housing.

Over all i think this could make a great carbine project. I have looked around and read various info but on mods but not a lot of specifics.

I'd like to get a 4-5" longer rifled barrel, nice 2x or 3x scope. I'll put together a moderator for it and fabricate a production grade removable stock.

so what barrels are possible options for me? I've read everything from turned down crosman, to modified daisy and others. but never seen any part #s or definative accuracy increases, just chrony results here and there.

any trigger work write-ups?

has anyone converted to a Gas/nitro piston for more power?

I used a dremel and removed flash and sharp edges as well as the fake "lumps" on the pistol for my use and it seems much better that way. Polishing and deburring all trigger and sear functional parts will make the trigger much better, as will just making sure that all are aligned well in relation to each other. The trigger can be drilled and tapped for a second adjustment screw and that can make an already good trigger excellent. They seem to be in general very good pistols that can be serviced and modified relatively easily. And if one absolutely fails completely then you're not out much at all.
