Airguns are fun to shoot Sparrows and Starlings. But airguns are useless to control over-populations of them. Trapping is the only safe and inexpensive and effective means to control them. I've twice given links to such a trap on this forum. But few airgunners are interested in it. Nevertheless, I've eradicated whole neighborhoods of Sparrows and Starlings with my trap. From clouds of Starlings to virtually none. Likewise with Sparrows. Once they were reduced to "maintenance levels", I kept their populations down with my airguns. But an airgun against swarms of Sparrows and Starlings is like trying to fry a fart in a skillet.

I am definitely building one of Beeman's traps, just the one farm alone has thousands of starlings on it. The farmer would just be elated if I could eliminate even a couple hundred of them. There is no way I can do it with air guns as much as I would love to. They are just way to wise, which makes me wonder how you can trap so many but I believe Beeman and I have also watched several videos on the traps as well.
