A while back I bought a 4-12x50 Hawke Airmax AO for use with my HW95 and it actually is a pretty good scope judging by the optics however I had a couple issues that I didn't like. The first issue was the extremely fine lines of the AMX reticle which do get lost on dark targets in the shade. The second issue is the lack of reticle illumination to help defining the thin reticle in the shade. The third issue is the AMX reticle itself which is busier than I like. The 4th issue isn't a biggie but the AO only rotates about 180 degrees (if that) from "stop to stop" which does squish together my holdover marks at distances past 30 yards. I guess that the "short AO rotation" also makes the focusing seem to snap in and out of focus quickly so perhaps "issue 4" is a benefit instead of a liability.
Well, I decided to move the Airmax AO to my .177 R9 and I ordered a new "Hawke Sport Optics Vantage 4-12X50AO Mil Dot HD Riflescope 14252 w/ Free Shipping and Handling" from Optics Planet.........

This scope from Hawke is also a 4-12x50 with AO like the AirMax, however it comes with the mil-dot style reticle I prefer plus it has the reticle illumination feature. I haven't received the scope yet so I'm hoping that the optics are similar to the AirMax which are pretty good.
For mounts I ordered a set of Warne "made in America" rings like this...........

Reading the "instructions" from the Warne sight it seems that the screw torque specs are "simplicity itself" since all Torks screws are to be tightened to 25in/lbs. These mounts will clamp to the Weaver/Picatinny to dovetail adapter I currently have mounted on the HW95.
Anywhoo......I'm hoping that the Hawke Vantage with illuminated mil-dot reticle will work for my style of airgunning!
