Opions needed: 4.49 vs. 4.50 mm H&N Match in FWB 300

Honestly you would need to try a tin of each. Inevitably there is variance in the barrels, system harmonics, and the pellets themselves that makes it impossible to predict with any useful degree of certainty.

For what it’s worth, I’ve measured and logged a variety of H&N pellets over the years and while you can count on a tin of 4.49mm being smaller than a tin of 4.52mm, they seldom match the printed number exactly. There’s enough variance that I would not count on two adjacent sizes (like the 4.49 and 4.50) actually being different enough to discern. Grantee they may indeed group differently but if you bought those same two sizes again 6 months from now, the favored pellet may swap places because they will have been pressed from new dies that vary in subtle ways from the previous ones.

My advice is get one tin of several different brands and sizes and try them all. The ones that group great, quickly turn around and re-order as many as you can justify so they come from the same batch.

Mine up close shoots the H&N Finale Match 8.18grs the best. All these are one holers. The one in the pink sticker I measured with a caliper lead smear to smear at .174. That is 5 shots through exact same hole. R10's shoot well, too.

Nice shooting. I have been using H&N Finale Match Rifle 8.18 gr in 4.51 (now apparently known as the H&N Match Heavy) with good results but was expecting better accuracy at 25 yds and beyond. For all intents and purposes, some of my HW guns shoot about as accurately as the FWB at those ranges, which may be a testament to the accuracy of HW! Anyway, I cannot find 4.51's right now, only 4.50 and 4.49, and I remember reading about a forum member who swore by 4.49's so thought I'd throw the question out there.
