Omega Air Charger Rebuild

I have and Omega Air and only 31 hours on it. I've had to take it apart twice now, the first time the rubber balls tried to squeeze through

the seats they were sitting on. shortly after that ( maybe because of the first failure) it stopped pressurizing. So I've been contacting Todd for over a half year now for a few o-rings

on the inner most cylinder. He says he cant get these particular o-rings from his supplier. I cant try and measure them because they're torn up from the failure.I'm about to throw it out and use my F10 shoebox. other than for those three o-rings, The service support has been great.

Does anyone have o-ring sources or sizes for this compressor?

Thanks,

Brian

No , they were not in the supplied rebuild kit, I'm trying to send a photo of the o-rings on the inner cylinder.

I don't know if i can measure they accurately. It may take some trial and error on getting the best o-ring part numbers from

a supplier.

I'm newbie so have to figure how to send the photo of the cylinder and o-rings surrounding it.

I'm hoping we can resolve this repair issue.

thanks,

You did not get a manual with your Air Charger?

I had mine for 4 months and it just had a melt down. Of course the day I'm not staying in the room and babysitting it while it was running. So the exit water line is very close to the HP output line and it must have been close enough to melt the water line. So I get back in the room and there was water everywhere and it probably ran for 15 to 20min without water to cool and it still runs but sucks water when the compressor is on so I do believe it ate some seals and over heated.

I called AOA which Rich directed me to Todd and I'm shipping the whole cylinder assy to him and he is going to rebuild it for me. Great Guy and easy to talk to.

If this was Joe B I had to deal with I would have just thrown the thing in the trash. I would never buy something like this from him :(

My issue is who and where to buy extra parts from. I will get up with Todd again and ask these questions. I thought about buying a second one from AOA to have spare parts but will hold off for right now.

As for orings here is the pages out of the manual for all the parts. I find there is 21-22 orings you can order them from any oring place. The problem is are they 70 or 90 Durometer??? Feeling most of the oring when I checked things out they seem to be mostly 70. 90 are a very hard rubber and you find them in the regs of the FX guns.

If we only have one guy to goto for this $1200 compressor this can become a paper weight real fast.

We need some good utube vids on how to fix and a place to buy all parts to rebuild this entire thing.

Here are the pics I got out of my manual.

If you all wanted to see what happen to mine to prevent this happening to you here are some pictures. The one pic has the water line section that got over heated by the HP line that caused a hole. I also have a pic of the water line and HP line where this happen. I keep this inside the house on one of my work benches and this side was facing away from me to see. I will wrap something to protect the water line for sure now. My only guess is that the vibration caused the water line to move and touch the HP output steel line.

Check your compressors !!!

Update: I did find this video and looks like the same cylinder setup as the Air Charger and you can tell it's Todd doing the video. This guy is awesome :) I will ask him to do another video but go deeper into the cylinder rebuild.

Wow!,

Your parts list and diagram are 1000% better than the silly crap i got for a manual.

I'm over 8.50 moths into trying to get my air charger fixed. I still haven't been sent the proper o rings after about three tries.. I showed the exact part in my photo I posted here.

I'm ready to trash it. Maybe I'll send the basket case cylinder to Todd, Mine blew out some inner o rings and was pushing air into the coolant,

It never ran more than 10 hours before breaking down in some new way. This is before i was told to run it about once or twice a week to

keep it alive.

Glad the pics I posted helped. Wow eight and a half months. I would have gave up and moved on for sure. My was working perfect until that water got heated up and lost water. It was my favorite compressor. I had the shoebox back in the day and it was good but slow and you needed another compressor. I sold it a while back. I have a YH and an GX3 for backups so I'm not down. I asked Todd if he had an extra complete cylinder for me to buy. I would like to have an extra to tear apart and play with and get some good info out there on this compressor. There is not much info or parts to be had. I will buy your complete cylinder if you don't want it anymore...

Good Luck.

Thanks,

But looking at your diagram, says the I have some older version. Your inner cylinders don't seem to hatch mine and my blown oring

is about 30mm diam. (mine broken and stretched so its hard to measure). I don't see any o-ring in your list of that size in that area of

my cylinder (stage3 cyl.?).

Brian

You best bet it to probably get with Todd then. Yes I bought mine from AOA only 4 months ago.

I sent a newer photo of the cylinder to Todd today. He asked for a better photo to send to the parts supplier.

Good deal. I hope Todd gets you squared away. Keep us updated. My thing is to keep on Todd about extra parts for these things. If you don't have parts you can't fix anything. I don't want to have to ship stuff out all the time just to get repaired. If you own a compress or an airgun you should know how to repair yourself. One big issue with the LCS SK-19 there is no info out there for this POS so you are stuck relying on AOA to fix it for you. Maybe in time they are release more info on it. I had one and AOA could never get it fixed back and forth over five times. Finally got a full refund. I hope this Air Charger does not become like this.

OK,

I'm done with this air omega charger. I've been told the parts are coming for almost a year now.

I'm throwing the whole thing into the trash. Its failed me twice or more now and I cant get the proper parts.

I would advise anyone looking at OMEGA chargers to be careful. It looks like the newer designs have the have a similar

inner piston design. The support was OK at first but was failing from the Factory and not Todd.

I'm going back to a shoebox compressor. At least it still works and I have a lot of spare parts till a solid compressor

shows up.
