OILY VALVE KNOB?

I was working on tuning my Impact and when I turned down the valve knob to drop it to the target velocity, I noticed that the valve knob was oily. Upon inspection I could see a big pool of oil at the end of the knob. I've never seen this before. Here's a picture.

Anyone?

FX, if you see this and want to chime in, feel free; I'd like to know.

I wash and lube my pellets with a very light coating of Napiers. I'm not sure how the lube would work it's way to the valve from the barrel but what do I know? All I know is this can't be good.

you should have a hex screw there if I recall correct (at least in the X, donno about first gens) I will check it this evening @ home, I would not worry to much unless you had an air leak, that oil is not from "air" probably, the hammer rest hit that knob, a rubber ball, and that ball seals the knob, so that oil probably came from the mechanics not the "air chambers".

Thanks for the replies, guys. Well to address them, my fill gauge is not an oil filled style so couldn’t be there.

I’ve had the gun since I think Oct. 2016 and I’ve never seen a trace of oil around the valve.

I did see a little oil stain around the big nut at the base of the main cf bottle.

Your suggestions gives me a thought....

Perhaps I got an oily fill from the paintball shop???

I’ll put a paper towel over the fill hose tonight and open the valve for a few seconds and see if there’s any oil in the paper towel.

If there is oil coming from the fill tank, do you think I’ll have to tear down the gun and do a clean or will it just be ok to blow it through with a fresh fill?

If the tank is contaminated I’ll empty and wash it out with the wand at the car wash.

Best I can come up with. Again suggestions are most welcomed.
