Oh Happy Day!

OK, as promised...



Don't know how it shoots yet, but I have every reason (by history and heritage) to believe its a laser. One thing I do know is it's beautiful!

Yes, I am a RAW virgin. It's only my second airgun, the other being an Air Arms S510 XTRA FAC that's has a Lane regulator in it set for about 30 ft-lbs.Love that rifle, but the RAW is in a whole other class. Just handling the TM1000 will tell you that. The previous owner recommended JSB Monster 0.177 13.4 gr pellets, so that's where I'll start.

The wind gods are quiescent today. Let's hope they stay calm tomorrow, but either way, I'll have a range report then.

Thanks y'all. It is a great rig. UJ, yeah, I did have a very similar rifle ordered with Martin. This is my 'instead' rifle. When it popped up in the classifieds, I was all over it. It's got < 600 shots through it, and about 150 of those were shot by Ken @ SPAW to get the barrel indexed and the Rowan trigger installed. So it's essentially a new rifle. I paid a commensurate price, but it had one outstanding feature that my original order @ RAW didn't. It was available NOW

Now the not so good news... Too many 'honey-do's' to get to the range today. It's easy enough to put my trip to the range off by one day. a bit more troublesome to make Ms. Finance Minister wait since she was kind enough to give me the green light on short notice.

So my full report will have to wait one more day But at least the rifle is here where I can fondle it between chores

So.... I finally got out to the range today. The original plan was to get the scope zeroed at 35 yards and then get some chrono data. In the process of dialing in the scope, it quickly became obvious what an incredibly consistent shooter the TM1000 is. So I forgot entirely about the chronograph and started shooting the 1/2" Shoot'N'See dots. I quickly found myself putting 15 rounds through one of those without ever coming near an edge. I soon decided to go out to 50 yards. 35 just wasn't challenge enough. I went to the smaller dots.and proceeded to tear those up. When I finally started to tire, I pulled my target and measure my last 15 shot group. Just under 5/8" Damn! And the rifle made it feel easy.

I'll try to shoot a regular BR card sometime soon and of course get pictures. But meantime, let me offer my profound thanks all the folks responsible for making this rifle available to me. I truly love it.

The saga continues....

Got to the range yesterday with the new TM1000 for some 'serious' shooting. First up, some chrono data. I do have Ken Hicks' data, but I wanted to see for my self. 100 shots later, all on a single fill BTW, all my data looked a lot like Ken's, E.S., Average fps, StDev were all in agreement with the table that came with the gun. Interesting note; The average and the median were with 1 fps of each other, meaning a very consistent set of numbers.

That little task took awhile since I'd left my phone at home, and so I couldn't read the chrono from the bench. Had my wife watching the chrono display and writing the numbers down. We still had time for me to tack up a 25 meter BR target just for fun. By this time, the wind had kicked up, but I still managed a 242 with 13x. I was well pleased with that. But I'm sure I can do better.

This MT1000 came with the stock ported titanium shroud, and it is a bit loud. Too loud to be called 'backyard friendly'. So I've been talking to Ken at SPAW and he says he can adapt a moderator. The quote he gave me was reasonable. So as soon as he gets the parts in, I'll be shipping the barrel out to Florida.

Loud or not, I'm loving this rifle!
