Official FX STX Barrel Liner Twist Rates

That's great however I would like to make the following points!

1) This information would have been much more helpful in the beginning.

2) For sure there have been mix ups!

3) Dealers had no more of an idea, or seemed to have no more of an idea than consumers.

4) Certainly after speaking with Johan A, I was confused on the initial batches of liners where some had 2 lines at the breech, I still don't understand why this was or what the difference was.

Now we're talking! This info will go into my Strelok software ASAP. Thanks FX.

I really think FXUSA could do itself a big favor and post a FAQ page with info like this on their website. Maybe a "custom parts" page as well. Then their phone calls would plummet.

Now if they'll spend an extra minute making sure the liners fit the barrels correctly, that would be awesome. Mine required supper human strength, resulting in a gouge or two, to the outside of the muzzle in order to remove the liner the first time and made it almost impossible to turn for indexing. FX told me that I would have to remove and sand down the breech end of the liner.

If you watch the long but excellent video Matt posted, he talks about the fact that some slug barrels don't need a choke, depending on the type of rifling they use. He also stresses that the STX liner absolutely must have a choke. The details are proprietary to FX though. I can tell you both my 600mm and 700mm .22 liners have chokes. You can feel it easily when pushing a slug through the barrel.

Hi

This is how i received mine about 2 months ago. My Belgian retailer ordered it straight from FX Sweden.

I did not check the twist rate yet. Hopefully it is the correct one.

I noticed the same problem when removing the liner from my .30 cal Crown.I ended up removing the complete barrel from the gun

then held the liner in a lathe collet and tapped the barrel sleeve off. After cleaning up the grease and o-rings I tried fitting the liner

back into the barrel without the O-rings. Still a little tight and gritty. I then cleaned and lightly polished the liner. Now slips in and out with little

effort. Long story short. If your liner is tight don't grab it with pliers or vise grips. You may squeeze the barrel out of round.

Now to my next observation. I purchased a .30 cal slug liner 700mm. I cut it down to 600mm and rechambered, Lots going on here.

Short story again. I cut a 2 degree lead into the chamber to ease the slug into the rifling??

Next when attempting to install the new liner into the barrel I noticed it was way to big. I had to remove .006" off the OD of the liner

where it is held in to barrel. You'd be sanding a LONG time to get this to fit.

I cut a 10mm hex on the end of the Liner Loading Nut

so I could set the tension loading the liner into the barrel,

Hello everyone!. Forgive me for not introduce myself correctly. My english is very bad. I have some doubts with the Twist Rate and the Strelok Pro App. I have a FX Impact MKII PP, I am using a .22 STX Liner A 600mm, with a Twist Rate of 1:16 (according to the FX official rates).

What number do I put in Twistt Rate (inches) in the Strelok App?.

How do I find that number from the 1:X relationship?. So I learn for when I change size or caliber barrel.

Is it Right or Left Hand Twist?

Thank you very much and greetings from Spain.

Hi Ferdinand,

Your English is just great! Probably better then mine, and I grew up in the USA. I think you answered your own question. The 1:16 is the answer just type "16" in the box. Also the liner is a right twist. It is a pretty rare bird when left is the direction for a barrel. Right twist is pretty much the norm. I have only seen the twist rate listed on a couple barrels I have come across. This is most times listed in the manufactures spec sheet. If you are talking about storing other liners and the take them back out? Then you will need to label them somehow. I label with blue painters tape. Cheap to buy, a marker, info and when done needed, easy off without damage whatever it is on.

Now if you're asking how to navigate Strelok go ahead and send me a PM, and I will do my best to walk you through. Time zones will slow us down, but we will get there. I hope I helped even a little bit.

Eamon.

Thanks Eamon for your answer. It is not so good, I use Google Translator and then fix that mess a bit.

I saw some videos about the FX Smoth Twist barrel and I ended up confused.
I have seen that I was wrong when writing, it is not 1:16 but 1:19 for an FX ST 600mm cal .22. I will put 19 in the box.

The advice of the painter's tape is very good. I will use it when I have more barrels to change. At the moment I only have the one you get with a new FX Impact MkII PP.

Thank you very much again for your answer, it is highly appreciated.

I will ask again when I have more questions. Something that will happen for sure.

Cheers.
