Are all O rings the same? Are the O rings you get at your down town Ace Hardware the same ones you get in a PCP? Thanks in advance.

No. There are many different materials and constructions in use. There are different hardnesses, usually stated in "Shore A" as well as materials for chemical and temperature resistance. They also come in different profiles. As to what your hardware store carries, ask them. That means of course that you need to know what you want.

yes, for most PCP applications you need BunaN for the material and a 70D for hardness, which is what you will find in most hardware stores
but do they have the size you need is another question

McMaster Carr is a great place to look. They have it all and you'll get a bag of 100 for the price of a few at the hardware store.

All great info above. I just want to say The O-ring Store, online retailers are who I found best prices and help from.
It’s not easy getting an accurate measurement from old seals when not knowing if a old deformed seal was metric or other.
I’d like to know how glands are measured and everything is figured out for HPA not to leak. I guess it’s as simple as tight tolerance and 70 Durometer gives a little.
Has anyone ever designed and built an aerospace grade PCP besides NASA?
