Last night I watched a video by the seller and it is a segment of elastomer tubing used in place of the O-ring on the bolt. I think I heard him say somewhere along the way that it is polyurethane. I’m not 100% sure he used the word but the color suggested polyurethane and its mechanical properties (tear resistance and abrasion resistance) make it a preferred material for this purpose.
He claims an O-ring just does not last for long before it gets chewed up but he does not go into detail as to why that is. Is it the wrong size, wrong material, wrong durometer, sharp edges on the magazine, roughness of the leade, etc.?
I don’t have an Avenger so I can’t comment from experience but I’ve read a number of threads about it and don’t remember seeing a lot of complaints. To whatever extent it is a problem, there are many ways to deal with it if you know what you’re doing but if this guy’s solution works, it may well be worth the price to sidestep whatever knowledge or smithing skills one may lack, or to avoid the potential time and cost to remedy it oneself.
