NSA (slugs) Triple your BC at what cost?

Not sure if many people have saw this recently, but I imagine its rather new to the Airgun world as of recent. This guy makes custom slugs designed to obtain over double sometimes triple the BC of standard pellets for pcp air rifles! So you probably ask at what cost and their price does almost the same as their BC does but is it worth it ? I haven't researched much in to them so I figured I would ask the gurus here...

1.) Do they hold a place in your barrel yet, or does this type of ammo need more time and progression?
2.) Are they overpriced as a hunting option or to even be considered for daily use?
3.) Thoughts concerning their overall performace in barrels mainly designed for traditional skirted pellets?
4.) Should our barrels be different, as in twist rates, lengths and overall build to utilize these projectiles effiecently as we have the skirted pellets?

I hope if anything this post at least introduces you to something new. I think these will surely progress and start becoming more popular as time goes on if they haven't already. Let me know what you think !

The longer distances you shoot the more expensive this hobby will get. Heck most of us know short distance shooting can get expensive with rifles exceeding $3000+. Though back to the slugs.... because of the expense lots of shooters out there cast or swag there own slugs and even pellets (cast). Now, if you can afford to blink with pre-made slugs like from NSA more power to you at least in the timed saved in making your own ammo.

I think ammo like this is great for hunting purposes and blinking if it works for your rifle and barrel combo. I for one am looking forward to see happens and who does what.

1/2, 3/4 or even the 1 mile shot on target with an air rifle is not a realistic hunting tool but it is sure fun!! So have fun and spend wisely or you will be sleeping on the couch! LOL

I mean long range to some is not the same for the next guy. I consider long range anything past 50 yards because I hunt mostly small game and shoot out to 50. I can accurately stretch my gun as far as 100 yards but i agree with mostly everyone seems to say it would be a great hunting round! I am getting them to see how they are in my Mrod and hopefully use them for coyote because were infested ! I do think its great that this may spark ideas or a future for pellets as our projectiles need an update as far as im concerned. These guns now days are insane and I dont even have a 1000$ spent total yet probably on my equipement while some guys have over double in just a single rifle. So at the end of the day it truly boils down to preference but i do believe they have a bright future in airguns

@Mrod.25, stick with pellets if you’re shooting .25 cal. Big Bore shooters rejoice that there’s a ammo guru like NSA to help your gun shoot to its full potential.

I just put together an order of 700 slugs in 22, 25 and 30 cal.

I will run them through the following guns:

22 Cal Air Arms S510 Carbine
25 Cal FX Impact
25 Cal Daystate AirWolf
30 Cal Daystate Wolverine 2 303 Hi-Lite

I will do a detailed review and post for each caliber. I’m off from Dec 21 til Jan 4 so expect the reviews around then. Should be very interesting.

Glad to see everyone enjoying the topic ! I believe there are various categories so to speak of all weapons, including airgunning. For instance, you are not worried about FPS or FPE when your target shooting (only restrictions and such) because the goal is to simply shoot accurately, on the flip side when your hunting, you can glorify 1 inch groups as "hunting ready" and be more focused on the energy delivered at various ranges to ensure humane ethical kills. So all in all I believe there is a spot for everything in not only airgunning but rim fires as well, it just depends on your end goal. I love the feedback on the post and I am glad everyone is participating with honest, real world opinions and facts. Thank you to everyone so far !

I will be doing a video about these topics on my channel after the holiday's and plan to include everyone's views and opinions !

I recently bought some swagged slugs from Dale (Drig) here on ag. They are some of the first swagged I’ve ever used, rat snipers were the first. Shot them out of my .25 armada, very very accurate. The consistency of the weight and size adds to shot consistency and accuracy at distance. I’m a believer. Not for plinking, but a devastating hunting round. Nielsen and Dale have a good product and if you are into any kind of hunting, they will take game further and more humane at distance.
