Nielsen Specialty Ammo has changed its manufacturing process to include deburring, washing, and lubing of all slugs off our high speed machines.

This gets rid of burrs on the base and nose of the slugs, all the little burrs that stick to the slugs, and washes off the lube used in the manufacturing process. Then we re-lube the slugs with pellet/slug shooting lube so they are ready to shoot out of the box.

In the pictures you can see our drying rack for when the slugs come out of the sonic cleaner. We will keep striving to be the best we can be and offer the most value for your hard earned money.

All this with our high quality slugs, with no increase in price and we're by far the best priced slugs on the market. Don't over pay for slugs, we do all this and still offer the best pricing.

wow great , but your slugs looked very clean now they will be super , thanks for going the exra step .for us , To be honest your slugs were perfect when I tested them , Nick , I see you are doing a very good job with small bore slugs , Your hi speed ones are perfect , clean and uniform ,

I have tested other brands recently and I was very disappointing with the way competitors are shipping their slugs , full of lead shavings and black grit oil and not moly . I see you are thriving for perfection , thanks LOU

I recently bought some NSA 20.2 gr .22 slugs. I also had some promotional FX slugs that were sent to me, at no charge, and some JSB 18.13 gr pellets.

I shot them in an FX Impact X .22 with the 600mm standard barrel (X twist) at 100 yards with a Hawke scope set at 12X. My FX shoots the JSB 18.13's at 865 fps. I did not chrono any of the slugs at this time.There was very little wind.

I do shoot some high power rifle, and my bench rest technique is fair.

There was very little difference between the three. I shot one, 10 shot group with each.

Commenting on this one time shoot, I would list them as NSA #1 (although there was a bit more horizontal spread for some reason), then the FX, then the JSB which produced a very uniform 3" pattern.

If I were to pursue slugs for hunting/long range shooting, all things considered, I would seriously tune my gun to shoot the affordable NSA slugs. Just my opinion.

Personally received a couple boxes of .22 ( 23's & 24.8's ) just this week. Opened them up and dumped them into a NAPTHA / OIL mix to clean and lube them NOT BEING AWARE of this new procedure this thread addressed. Interesting that the color of my Naptha / Oil wash which was a light blue green went cloudy white like liquid shown in the tub at NSA.

After dumping out to dry did notice some lead chaff still when the liquid was poured off being a whole lot less than previous, but still shy of spanking baby butt clean either.



Just sharing what done and found . NSA's attention to detail is extraordinary and will continue to support them shooting there slugs !

Nicks slugs are a LOT nicer than that photo ... HP cavity is not right either and would hate to see folks looking at that and thinking so.

Well Nick, just when I thought it was impossible for your slugs to get any better you come up with this neat trick! Now I may be able to skip cleaning and lubing my pellets and slugs altogether!

For years I have been using Acetone to remove the lubricants from my pellets and slugs used in the manufacturing process. After cleaning I lightly lube them with Napier Pellet Lube, which I believe increases accuracy but also keeps my breech o-rings lubed so I am not replacing them all the time. And I agree wholeheartedly with heavy-intact where he says, "You're the best Mr Nielsen and you've earned all my business."
