Do you think the 34.9’s outperform the 38.9’s?

I just curious. And now all slugs are sold out at NSA I can’t try them. 


On another note, I tried lubing w the WD40 Yellow and results weren’t as good as w SuperLube Silicon oil. So back to SL.

34.9 and 38.9 are both from NSA’s new .25 slug design. The 34.9 slugs have BC of 0.110 and 38.9 has a BC of 0.115 so the difference is minimum, in theory at same speed the 38.9 version will be very slightly better.

BUT NSA site shows all .25 slugs are sold out so guess it doesn’t matter. I better nurse my small stash of NSA slugs. LOL 





Edit: checked all the calibers and they are sold out of everything. This is great for their move, God speed to NSA and hope they can get back to supplying my bad lead habit again soon!

Continuing to shoot at 100 yards with the 38.9’s, as weather permits. 
All in all this will be my go to slug. Groups at 100 are fairly consistent but “there’s always that one” for me. 
Here’s the best out of 5 today. Four at 0.436”

I think for the cost, these guns should be built with an actual gun barrel as the tubes they come with are just too dam flimsy. Anyway, I do own an impact m3. The only mod is a Huma port and pellet probe. I am using the 38.9 grain dish nsa slugs and getting between 995 and 1000 fps. Groups at 50 yards are sub moa. At 1000fps (hit occasionally, not all the time), that equates to about 86 ft pounds of energy. Not bad. I wish these slugs would expand more…very minimal even at these speeds (but not a problem as far as hunting goes). I have to be very careful to hit squirrels in the head or they almost literally blow in half. Have not tried further than 50 yards as that is usually the furthest distance I need to shoot. My settings: 1st reg: 170 2nd reg: 165 Valve: hair above 4th line PW: 16 Micro: a tick below 5

Never being satisfied is one of my biggest issues. I had been shooting with Slug A .25 liner and NSA 43.5 grain right at 900 FPS and excellent accuracy for a year. Even shot a 238 with EBR target in swirly winds at 100Y. Then I read all about this and other posts the 38.9 NSA, so tried them, but bumped up the power a bit so I shot them at 960 FPS. Very good results also, but hard to tell in windy conditions which is better. I did get the occasional "flyer" as noted above by more than one shooter, and honestly never got flyers with the 43.5. So 38.9 4/5 were better, but 43.5 5/5 almost always better.
So I decided to stick with the 38.9 NSA for a while since I had 3 or 4 boxes in the Slug A until RMAC. I saw at RMAC that Keith G had done really well with the Superior Heavy .25 and 41 grain ZANs at 940 FPS. So, silly me, thinking if I got a .25 Superior Heavy and shot the 41 grain ZANs at the same speed I would be golden - forgetting that I bought ONE liner, not a dozen to run through and test to choose the best. Needless to say, performance was good, but not as good as the NSA 38.9 or 43.5 in Slug A liner. So now I'll try the NSA 38.9 in Superior Heavy, but probably end up going back to where I started with the Slug A and NSA 43.5 at about 900 FPS.
What kinda tweaked my mind was BELIEVING that the first tune I did over a year ago with the NSA 43.5 would be the BEST tune for my gun. It was hard for me to accept that, so of course I had to try many different combinations before going back to the future...

A lot of sponsored people can Cherry pick the best of the best. For the average guy, buying multiple barrels isn’t and option! Bad enough that you need to go through $$ worth of lead just to HOPEFULLY find a sweet spot!

I forgot to mention in my post above, I am using the original barrel that comes with the M3…no slug barrel. I will try out to 100 when we get a calm day and post my results. My gun is running maxed out but very accurate with these slugs at the current set up/speed. If it breaks, I’ll throw it out and buy a cheap .22! I bought into the hype when getting this gun. So far pretty satisfied.
