Not so good feedback for PA.

Firstly, Let me just say this is in no way a complaint in regards to personal service. The individuals I have had dealings with at Pyramid Air have all been top notch.

I recently purchased a “refurb” Kral PB from PA. It arrived today. At some point one has to ask; what can be considered a refurbished item, and what should not be. Original box was in a larger brown box. Original box had not been taped and the Kral was not secure in its box. When I got the gun out I immediately noticed three things: the rifle was not seated in the stock correctly (internals were highly visible), it had a heavy amount of sand on it, and the stock itself was completely trashed. It was scuffed, scratched, scraped.... damn thing looks like it was on the loosing end of a fight with a small beaver. The pistol grip looks like Satan himself held it as there is what looks to be a fingerprint melted into it. There is also black pai.....I have no clue what it is. You be the judge....needless to say I’m not happy.

Just me eh, seems like on a refurb you can not complain about looks/dents/dings & scratchs.

As far as looks some companies stamp a HUGE "R" some where and othjers may stamp "R" several places ( and personally I like rigs stamped with refurb'ed) . A bad scratch or ding could be THE reason it was returned and no matter the original reason everyone buying refurbs know they were not right somehow the first time sold.

A refurb DOES need to function as a new model should and you have every right to expect to to hold air & shoot but fit & finish are off the table.

I've seen MUCH worth on some refurbs and other that appeared flawless. The budget bin is.

What would be the most concerning to me would be the internals not seated in the stock, the sand, and the box. The reason I highlight those is that refurbished implies to me that this was sent back to the factory and brought up to as new specifications insuring all parts shipped with a new rifle are in the box. If this is PA refurbished then it is a used rifle, not a refurbished item unless PA is an authorized refurbisher, and if they are then their standard of refurbishing is not to industry standard.

What you received is what you would expect from an individual on ebay who sells an item as refurbished because it turns on.

I am really sorry to read this and see that you had such a bad experience buying from us. While it is true that refurbished guns can often have cosmetic blemishes, there is absolutely no reason for some of the major oversights that you shared, such as the internals showing. If you haven't done so yet please get in touch with us so that we can provide you a label and pay for the return shipping and get you a full refund.

I have discussed this with Seth, the manager of our technical repair department to make sure updated training is provided to the team on what we should be listing and selling as refurbished. I'm sorry you had to waste your time posting photos of this instead of enjoying your time shooting it.

Eric thank you for chiming in. Things happen, I completely understand this. I think in this situation the important thing to take away is how the issue was resolved. I submitted an email last night and received a response today with instructions on how to mail it back.

While I am pretty bummed about not being able to enjoy it this weekend and not overly thrilled it was sold in the first place, I feel the issue was resolved as well as I could have hoped for. Thank you again for taking the time to respond to this post.

I've purchased at least two Weirauch air rifles from PA in the past and both came to me in "as new" condition. I believe that they were returned due to buyer's remorse and not for reasons of requiring repair or refurbishment. Weirauch's are not inexpensive guns but being springers, in a world of springers and gas piston single shot rifles, I can see why someone might have second thoughts about keeping them and return them for say a much cheaper Hatsan. I can only say that I never expected faulty manufacture of Weirauch (also sold under the Beeman brand) break barrelled guns, as they are fine examples of European workmanship! Highly likely buyers remorse guns, and seemingly so when they arrived. I took the refurbished discount, still paying more than brand new rifles of lesser quality, and never looked back!

My thoughts on reburbs are that the more you pay for the inherent quality associated in a name, the better your chances of obtaining a real "keeper" at a bargain price! It is far more likely that the former owner took good care of his gun, because he paid big money for it before sending it back for some unknown reason, which in the case of PA they take guns back for any reason, not just faulty merchandise?

Seldom do you find refurbished high-end guns for sale very long at PA, and almost never anywhere else! They are few and far between. Far more often you find the lower quality, cheaper, refurbished guns in greater quantities that were returns due to bad design, poor manufacturing, bad QC, or misuse by beginners. Companies actually make large purchases of these refurbed junkers and often don't give them much better refurbishment than they originally got when they were brand new! I won't name names, but many of you know the dealers of whom I speak.

For those buying "Refurbished" air guns have you ever read what is actually done to them?

Here is what HatsanUSA does, and based on their description as well as what I can see in the photos, I think the gun in this post (while not being a Hatsan) appears to meet the "Refurbished" definition they have. So while I've not seen anything like this for PA or Kral I could imagine it being similar. When not buying new it's best to do as much research as you can fine. What's even worse (and stopped me from buying a refurbished Hatsan) is that they are not refundable, only returnable for replacement.

Refurbished Hatsan Airguns are carefully evaluated to ensure they meet the same high performance standards as our new products, but at a better value to you.

I got a refurb Flashpup from Hatsan.Solid gun but the mags(the red 1s) don't cycle well at all when fully loaded. So much for their (proper function) They work kinda ok with 4 or 5 pellets in them. The only thing holding the mags and the single shot tray in the breach slot is the bolt probe. That's something I would'nt be surprised to see on toy cap gun,but this, kinda raises my blood pressure when I dwell on it.

I bought a refurb { Diana Stormrider} PCP for my grandson , the only thing I received in the box was the airgun no mag , no single shot tray, no paperwork and no replacement seals . Receiver was not fitted correctly to the barrel port [big gap], no breech seal o ring It's a good thing I am a gunsmith because I spent around 8 hours correcting issues with this purchase .It's now fixed with a regulator added and my grandson is very happy with it After re-crowning the barrel he is shooting 1/4 to 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards. II called PA and expressed my dissatisfaction with the refurb ....If I turned out work like that I would have never been in business for 35 years, these guns are extremely easy to repair. I may try AOA with my next purchase , probably a FX crown or a Daystate.

To me the term refurbished should mean that the item is 100% functional and is in nearly new condition. It could be a buyer remorse return or it could be a broken gun someone returned and was fixed and then resold. Regardless - the exact condition of the item should be clearly described the way AoA does. Refurbs should never be listed with brand new items. And IMO Pyramid Air's refurb prices are redunkadunk - a used gun is a used gun - don't just drop $50 off the price - I'll pay the $50 just for a brand new gun.

I like Pyramid air, but common sense and a little perception has steered me clear away from anything they offer as a refurb. You'd do better in the Marketplace here or on GTA.
