Not ready to pull the trigger on 1000 bucks

Not ready to pull the trigger on the HW 44, Its so tempting with so many good reports of the 22 caliber.

Just gave up on the Webley Alecto 22 , No UK sales imports back to the USA.

BUT wait I see some light at the end of the tunnel, The NEW SPA 750, Or is Uncle blowing smoke everywhere?

End of the summer and not once did I get to go on a rattle snake hunt , I did kill three this summer in my back yard with my trusty P 17

Not once did I reach for the P 11 , Maybe next year, It is cooling off here with the days in the 90s and the nights in the 70s Perfect rattle snake weather.

I’m sorry if this is slightly OT but there’s some AWESOME HPA converted single shot pistols out there for sale.

I like that Ataman pistol myself.

$799 then minus 10%. Regulated great looking gun though HW undoubtedly lighter and better balance.

I looked things over better. 20 regulated shots at 18.44ftlbs. That’s R1 territory which means Coke cans at 130 yards with enough holdover.

By enough I mean 1/2 way down entire reticle on 4x so open sights would be easier. I’ve never been a big pistol guy. I loved my HIgh Standard ones. Push one smooth button & switch bull barrels. But to even get 20 regulated 18.44 shots or HW specs these are huge.

Can't blame you-$1000 is a lot. Seems I've seen sales on the HW44 under $900 but it is still a lot. It is also a lot of value for the money. Build quality is excellent and mine has been amazingly accurate as many others have reported. As I've said before and it applies to many opinions on many things, it's all relative.

I also have a pp700. It is powerful and accurate. Build quality doesn't match the HW44 but it is 1/5 the price and still quite good. Overall, a very good pistol that I'm always confident in when I pick it up. All relative.

Dear nephew Mike,

You semi-literate, West Texan, Back Yard Agaves Brewing, Snake Stomper....

How many times have I told you not to post when you've been drinking that brown home made tequila? I know it gets lonely out there in the desert, but sitting out there on that cinder block, talking to your sheep, shooting scorpions with an air gun, while dead drunk, will NOT bring back your motorcycle hoodlum youth!!! AND...cut back on those mushrooms.

Now...about the SPA 750, if it's anything like the 700, or even the 800, it will outshoot your bloodshot eyes every day and night of the desert year. Unless the price goes WAY up, and I suspect it will rise due to the new design and popularity of the 700, it will still be the best air pistol for the money...within reason. You will need a scope "riser" to get that scope up high enough so your one good eye can make out a proper image. That sliding wire shoulder stock comes straight back and that means a sore neck for most people bending down to see through that scope. I fully realize that you, like most motor-sickle hoodlums, was born without a neck, but it will be an issue for most car driving normal humans!

I'd say within 100 feet, just about the maximum range I can take with 76 year old eyebulbs, and a pistol, that gun is dead on accurate. Now a lot of the younger whipper-snappers, and individuals who are young enough to still have their prostates in place and functional, may make accurate shots a lot further out than that...but they are younger than us and most likely sober most of the time!

Which reminds me, did you get your rabies shot from the vet this year? I have never been able to Google whether rabies can be sexually transmitted, but with your West Texas love life, I wouldn't be taking any chances...not when you can get a back door $25.00 "large dogs series" rabies shot, from a veterinarian with a Mexican medical license!!!

With concern...

Your Ever Watchful Uncle Hoot

PS: Forgot to mention I went to the asylum and visited your aunt Leonora. She is well, and she said to tell you "Hello", but mentioned she still hates your guts and will shoot you on sight because she remains convinced you ate her cat that night...(???) Again, it's like I told you all those years ago, never drink with relatives!!!

There are two dealers I have been in touch with...R&L Airguns and Airgunarcheryfun.ca (Canada).

My best guess is either October or January....SPA admitted they had encountered a manufacturing problem and that could mean just about anything. The only differences are multil-shot magazine/cocking issues, or built-in shoulder stock. The gun itself has proven supremely able to hold air, shoot accurately, and function without problem.

If it's an export restriction, our gov or theirs, then we just wait it out. If it's mechanical, it can't be that hard to resolve, unless one of their subcontractors failed on them. For all I know the whole gun is made in-house, although I doubt it. SPA is most likely an assembly point for export. So...who knows. I'm hoping October.

Kind regards,

Uncle Hoot

PS: Mushrooms found growing in desert wild hog poop DO tend to have a slight "greenish" tint, but are still psycho-active...although users have reported a "gritty gamey taste" when ingesting! Probably depends on what the hog was eating at the time he took a dump. So I think you're fine! I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks

Chased the guy around for a day trying to buy it, He put it on E bay and that was the end of the low price pistol.

Mike

Well...did you get the pistol or not??? If not, check out the link below. 'Wes', at http://archaryairgunfun.ca/ should have it in stock in October. The gun's first run was .177/.22 caliber, single shot, (PP 700 $200.00) the new model is magazine fed with a built-in wire shoulder stock, AND...it will out shoot your fat ass every day of the week!.

Uncle Hoot

I did not get the Pistol,

Just going to wait for the China spa gun, Did not see a deposit or a waiting list, on the site airgunsarcheryfun.com.

I am down to 230 lbs, Stopped power lifting and went to body building, Pretty hard to get ripped , Its all about the diet.

And at my age I have to cut back on the steroids.

Mike

Well, Mike...I heard Diana might buy the rights to the PP 750, or they might not. If they do, the "Diana" trademark on the side will likely raise the price into the $1K range.

The problem is the 700 outperformed its price class by so much that the big boys in the industry smelled a profit maker that's already produced, crated and ready to send out either to dealers for general consumption, or to Diana to be restamped, repriced, and sold for a lot of money.

Here's hoping.....

By the way, use the "Contact" link on Airgunsarcharyfun.com and ask "Wes" to put you on the wait list. IF we get lucky, this will be your "go to" pistol/carbine for whatever bugs you out there in bandit country.

Regards,

Kindly 'Ol Uncle Hoot
