Not a good day to be a fox

I'm not a fox Hunter as it were but an opportunity arose when I found tracks outside my barn on several occasions. So I started taking walks around the property. On one of these occasions I popped up over a rise to see two foxes down in a hollow not a hundred yards from my barn or house... found them. I quickly got to the other side of the drive a walked another 15 yards to get over the rise then laid down with the trusted .25 cricket, loaded with 34s, sticking through the grass in the fence line. The foxes moved to the wood line on this small bowl shaped field and sat down at about 85 yards. Contiplating taking a shot at this distance the larger of the two suddenly stands up and starts walking straight toward me, just to turn broadside and start walking up the field at 62 yards. Here we go.... Crosshairs lowered onto the ear and a 34 was away. Smack... dropped right there. Second fox takes off on a dead run just to stop and turn around after about fifty yards. Looks back tilts his head back and forth... then starts a walk over to check on his fallen comrade... Oh man wrong move. As he approaches twenty yards from his brother I send another 34 zinging down range... smack again and it's done. I can't believe what just happened and all in the span of no more than five minutes. Both shots were pass through. The first was impacted just behind the ear and about an inch low missing the brain but tore through the gugular. The impact must of knocked him out cold and then he bleed out as he never moved after impact. The second was impacted in the ear and came out the opposite eye for instant lights out. Both were skun out and I plan to have them tanned at a later time. As opportunity arise I would like to collect as many fur bearers as possible with this gun just as a long term hunting project... I have a buddy who is having trouble with some coyotess bothering his dogs and litteraly on his back door step... So maybe I won't have to wait long.

Cricket is shooting 870 fps with 34gr jsb. Should put it in the mis 50 ft/lb range.

Actually I'm a northern boy through and through located in upstate NY closer to Canada than Syracuse....haha.
