Nomad II - Don't neglect basic maintenance!

Elite Force Slick Silicone Oil is 100% Silicone in a spray can and usually sold anywhere airsoft and paintball stuff is sold. I think it is made by Umarex, not real sure. But no problems yet using it in my NomadII. Here is the link to where I got mine from.

I really liked the Nomad II for the several weeks I had it for review. It seems to be configured better than many of the others. It's great for topping off but I think many might be filling from empty, this is where I think they beat themselves apart. The main issue with many of these compressors is they run at such a high rpm, waiting for them to figure that out. Make them run slower for less heat and wear, who cares if it takes longer.

Dana,

I totally agree with you. I used it to top off my Uragan .25 I just got and was scared to use the Nomad to top off from 125b - 240b (have u seen the airtube)...well the Nomad did it in 8min 21sec, that is the longest run I've done to date on my Nomad. All my other runs have been 3-5 mins with no issues whatsoever and I have never topped anything from empty. I plan to take good care of it and write down every fill with time, load charge. For now, it's still chugging away!

Well as of Monday mine will not fill higher than 140 bar. Trying to reach AV so far has been futile with no responses to emails or call backs. I was vigilant about maintenance so we will see how this goes. Passed the 30 day return point.

Please do let us know how they take care of you, this is actually the second one I hear about with a problem. Hope they take care of you. As for mine, still going strong.

Started my ninth fill with the Nomad 2 of an Ataman MR from 100 bar to 280 bar the compressor stopped at 230 bar and gave a code on the Load gauge of H2. I have followed the silicone oil protocol at the 5 fill mark. I checked the burst disc, it was bulged but did not have a hole in it. I changed the burst disc anyway and did the 20 fill maintenance got the black oil water mix. Now compressor only runs for a couple of seconds getting a load of 18 to 20 and shuts off. I am still within my 30 days so I will be calling AV tomorrow and see what they say.

My Nomad II has put in a lot of work this weekend with no problems. Filled the bottle on my Uragan (530cc) from 150 to 300 Bar three times and also on my buddy's Uragan 3 times. And once on his from 0-300 bar in 100 bar incriments and let it rest 5 mins in between. Still running strong. Now I need to do the basic maintenance as outlined in the manual.

Glad they are taking care of you Bob L.

Well PA sent a replacement. I did not ask what was wrong with the original one but am happy with how they handled it. Hopefully this one holds up longer aa I love the convience of it.

I received my Nomad II back from AV last Thursday, on the return documents it only said "replaced part" so I don't know what part they replaced. Too busy with other "honey do" projects and getting a range ready for a high power rifle match so I probably won't get to test the compressor out until next week. I am assuming they tested the compressor. And they repaired it in a timely fashion, so I am satisfied with AV's service.

Update: Took a month to receive my compressor back from AV. On a good note, they sent me a Brand New Unit as replacement! I originally sent them only the compressor and hose as that is what they asked me to do. To my surprise, when I opened up the box yesterday was a brand spanking new compressor with Everything! Hopefully this unit lasts longer than the last one.
