Noise when shooting my FX Wildcat

"zerox69"Hey Hawkeye
He put his name on the email so I have it . I am probably not going to do business with them again after this . I have spent a lot of money with them . My wife tried to order it from Airgun depot but the guy was short and wouldn't answer all questions and was rushing to get off the phone . The other place that I had an experience is with pyramid air when i had a problem with a gun the tech cut me off and said you need customer service and just transfered me no hold on, no nothing . They don't teach customer service anymore. I will probably start ordering guns from the smaller companies they seem to really still appreciate your business as their small and know that every customer counts and they care about word of mouth.
I agree, customer service is for the most part a thing of the distant past. There are some exceptions. and when I encounter them, they will have found a customer for life.

Hey jland48Completely agree. I think that is what has happened to them . They think that their the only game in town and thank God their wrong . I have been hearing a lot of great things about Utah airguns , so I'll probably start giving them my business. Any company can sell something someone wants but what do you do when something is not right , how do you treat them . That's where the rubber meets the road for me and most people .

Not a Wildcat, but the Royale has the same breech block,so I figure same question being asked.

Totally different opinion in that thread.
Give a bit more detail as to when the noise happens if you need answers from forum members.Seem to go off topic onto dealer bashing pretty quickly.
That said,Hope you get it sorted quickly.Cheers Paul.

"zerox69"Hello everyone !I'm new to this Forum . My wife purchased an FX Wildcat for me for Christmasafterthe10,000 hints that I gave her , lol . I took it out for a shoot and it mad this sound like like I was airing up an basketball. I call where it was purchased from and they said that it was normal for the FX Wildcat . He asked if I had any airguns with a regulator I told him absolutely, I have 5 FX airguns alone not to mention the other airguns that I own with a regulator and I've never heard the regulator after taking a shot on any of them . Can someone please tell me if what I'm hearing is normal for the Wildcat ?
Thanks
zerox69 does your sound like this? Mine has made this sound since I got it new. Usually around 170bar starts this sound. I refill at 150bar. It’s no had ill effects, shoots lights out.

Hello Jtnm !
Thanksfor the video . That is the exact sound that my Wildcat makes !!! I truly thought something was wrong with it. I robbed myself of a week of not shooting it and sighting it in . My other Fx guns do not make this sound . Can this be corrected with a tune ? This forum it hands down the best forum I've ever been a part of. Everyone truly wants to help . I noticed that you have the 2 extra baffles on yours does it really make a big difference from the 2 that it normally comes with? I have had airguns , hp airguns since 2010 and love them . I have my own compressor from Pyramid Air . Now all I need is to fund places that I can pest . I'm sure that's everyone's problem . Really hard for me being in New Mexico. I just found out that there are 2 guys in New Mexico that shoot airguns . One I have talked to very nice old timer , tried to guide me in the right direction as far as places to shoot but he lives in Roswell. I wouldn't mind driving but would like to find something closer . Well anyways thanks for the video . I should be getting my wildcat back by Saturday maybe .

My Royale 500 does not make any sounds also. The air gun shop I purchased the wildcat from wasn’t concerned about it, I guess I shouldn’t be. It was at their shop for other reasons. Must be something with the wildcat. I still have warranty on the rifle until summer time, down the road if the reg takes a digger or warranty is up, I’ll probaly replace it with a Huma since I’ve read a lot of great things and I want to turn up the reg for the 34grainers.

I wouldn’t waste your money on the extra baffles for the wildcat. The stock setup is good. When I purchased mine I also picked up a huggett moderator. It’s whisper quiet with the huggett. My only gripe was the huggett touches the air tube when installed straight onto the shroud. Only way is to buy a longer extension from shroud to huggett to get it over the air tube so it doesn’t touch. That’s why I tried the extra FX baffles. They seemed to change the tone, to me it added a slight ping sound. Stock is better. I had the extra baffles on that day for testing. I turned up the hammer spring to shoot the 34grainers at 815fps, as of today I am back again to the 25gr Air Arms at 880fps. Give the Air Arms a try in your WC. They shoot exceptionally well in both my FX rifles than JSBs. I have several other videos on my YouTube shooting longer ranges with them.

I am curious when you get your wildcat back as to what was done to remedy the sound.

I too am in New Mexico. Northwestern.

Hey jtnm ! So the huggett shroud screws on all the way but touches the airtank or doesn't screw on all the way because the air tank stops it ? The reason why I ask is because I was seriously thinking about getting the huggett shroud . I had heard a lot of people talking about the huma but I thought that the huma was the one that was originally in the fx . I'm not very technically inclined so I don't work on my guns at all but I did talk to Ernest yesterday and he is going to work on my gun when I get it back . Their sending a new one not the same gun . Ernest said that it's the way the air tube is placed , that it needs to be backed out a little and that will get rid of the noise . Do you know anything about the Donny L shroud ? My next gun I want to get is the FX Impact then the Daystate Pulsar Lord willing . Man, I had no idea it was that many people in New Mexico that shot airguns. Now , we just need to find some permissions which is frustrating to do. I think if we were in Ohio , or Nebraska, Illinois, Texas we would be just fine getting permissions.

Zerox, my WC .25 has never made the noise in the video. I bought a Donny FL sumo and an adapter to get it out past the air cylinder bc the WC I have has a barrel that is shorter than the airtube. With the Sumo, it's about as quiet as you can probably make it. I also have Donny's Shogun and Ronin but the difference between them and the sumo is minute. Don't get me wrong, you can hear it... but it's very quiet w the Sumo. A big difference than the two stackable baffles I originally had on it.

AOA. The good and the bad. No wait. The bad and then to good...
I have purchased 6 new guns from them. But I bought a new 22 cal Streamline. It leaked and try as I may I could only get 3/4 inch groups at 25 yds with a flyer about every 4th or 5th shot. No matter what ammo I tried mostly JSB.. I called and ask to exchange it and got a real clown to deal with. rude and nasty. Told me they checked it out before it was sent and they knew more about air rifles than I do. Had to agree there. But that was the only thing he said right. It ended up costing me a loss of $265 for a restocking fee and shipping to me from them and shipping and Ins back to them. I wrote an email to the powers to be about that person and assured them I would be buying no more guns from them. I got a call from the/a manager the next day offering an apology and my restock fee back on my next new air rifle. Soo. That is my 2 cents about that. Can't decide about a new purchase to recoup my restock fees. Brian

Hey Brian That sounds about the way the guy on the phone tried to handle me . I just wanted a exchange not even a refund . I'm sure that I will not be buying from them again . Save yourself the frustration and potential charge of another restock fee . Take your losses where they are and move on . I made them return my gun and send a new one out to me . Brand new gun , there should be no issues, especially when the gun cost what it costs . The excuse of them getting good to big and not valuing customers is unexceptable . Pyramid Air is much more bigger than they ever hope to be and still show the utmost respect to their customers when there's an issue with a new gun . I have heard a lot of good things about Utah Airguns but there are still a handful of small Airgun stores out there that value any and all business no matter the amount you spend with them . I ordered there years ago because they were so close to New Mexico and the shipping was not that long to get here . Either way I say save your money spend wisely and choose a better company to deal with .
