No chicken little the sky ain't falling.

Have bought, sold, and traded guns all my life. It has always been with family or friends.
Recently had gun for sale a friend wanted. Waited 6 months for him to come up with money.
Finally decided if I was going to sale would have to do it online. Just the thought of sent cold
chills down my hunched hairy back. With all the scamming you here about was quite certain
someone would cheat me out of gun. And true to my nature I would track em down, gut them
like a fish, and go to prison for life. Where I would soon kill have a dozen guards in a failed attempted
breakout. It was all clear to see. So was very hesitant to put in, but out of desperation said good bys
to family and friends and posted gun. Well yeah was contacted by some scammers, they were ridiculously
easy to spot. But was also contacted by an extremely diverse mix of individuals who all had one thing in common.
they were GRATE! Was an absolute joy to speak with every one of them, and made several new friends along
the way. So if your like I was, fear not. There is a whole lot more good out there than bad and the bad are so
transparent its just silly to worry about. Want to thank AGN for providing the service, and all the members who
contacted me for the laughs and restoring my faith in humanity, what I thought would be a nightmare turned out
to be the most fun this old fool has had in a long time.

I bought my first item (.25 Wildcat mag) from someone here this week. I mailed the cashier's check yesterday and I'll receive the mag next week some time. Both the seller and I communicated via PMs here and we had one phone conversation. Pleasant fellow from Michigan.

I've bought, sold, and traded way too many recurve bows on an archery forum. Out of about 36 transactions, I've had only one that wasn't according to Hoyle. I spotted that fellow pretty quick. He even asked me how I spotted him, I didn't share that information with him. I wasn't going to contribute to his education!

I might add, like some here, I am more worried about someone being worried about dealing with me than vice versa.

I live in a small country, but we do have scammers here also. Never the less, two of my most expensive shotguns I have ever bought to my collection, i bought from an elderly chap via Finn (private internet shop), who suggested that if I sent him kr 20.000,- (about 1800$) he would send me the forend stocks and the barrels. (This is Gebruder Merkels so the forend stocks is permanently attached to the barrels anyway).
Step two would be me paying the rest amount (many times the "deposit" I must add) waiting for him to send me the last two gun-peaces.
I tried to persuade the guy to do this transaction in a more secure manner, but he insisted. Of course, I could take a plane and end this transaction face to face, but after talking to him by phone, I though that this is a man from the old school - so what the heck!
Two high end Merkels, 1984 and 1986, one over/under, the other s/s. Never fired, hand made, two of a kind.
I know, this is an airgun forum, but for me this transaction was special, so I hope you will excuse me for picposting:

Thank you guy's. Yes, this was an outstanding deal, and the reason why I took the risk and sent the deposit money "in the blue" so to say. The next step was not risky at all in my book.
Who knows, maybe this was an old man's way to test my credibility and to see if I had my heart into these very fine guns, built in the end period when the factory still was running in East Germany (Suhl).
