Night Vision - The struggle is real!

The struggle is over. Here in California it is illegal to have this kind of set up unless I am reading the law wrong.

Also deciding on NV700 and as far as I can tell all the regulations are for firearms and air rifles are pretty unregulated here in CA from what I read. Shockingly it seem CA is more relaxed on air rifle than some other red states, let's hope it stays that way. Please! don't nobody be "THAT GUY" and go ruin it for everyone else.

I'm a powder burner here in CA. Hunting at night is illegal in our state period!

Nightvision and thermal rifle and pistol scopes will not be shipped here by legitimate businesses like Opticsplanet.com, EuroOptics, and etc....

THERE IS ONE CAVEAT for nightvision, if the scope has daylight capabilities, like the ATNs, Sightmark Wraith or Pard NV 008, some companies will ship here.

However, there is nothing stopping any of these companies shipping NVGs and IR lasers/designators to us new owner in CA! 😉

California Fish and Game CCR T14-264.5 Use of lights while hunting-Remainder of State. (There is a large portion of California that is closed to all night hunting)

(c) It is unlawful to use or possess night vision equipment to assist in the taking of a bird, mammal, amphibian, reptile or fish. For purposes of this subdivision, "night vision equipment" includes, but is not limited to, the following:

(1) An infrared or similar light, used in connection of an electronic viewing device.

(2) An optical device, including, but not limited to, binoculars or a scope, that uses electrical or battery powered light amplifying circuits.

(e) A person shall not be arrested for violation of this except by a peace officer.

I took all of this directly from the 2019-2020 Fish and Game booklet. I am not a lawyer or any kind of legal counsel. I just err on the side of caution because I definitely don't want to be worried about dropping the soap. Take the above as you will, your mileage may vary and a really cool DFG officer just gives you a warning. But in My experience when dealing with DFG officers they are really cool people, but take the job seriously. I have to agree with the above mentioned "Don't be that Guy" and make it all the more difficult for us to enjoy this great Air Gun sport.
