Night vision recommendations

I’m interested in doing a little frog hunting at a pound across the street from my house at night. Any recommendations for a cheap night vision scope that can see up to 50 yards? That’s all I need, nothing fancy, I’m going to be tripping over myself in the dark anyway and could damage it. Something that would fit on a dove tail rail, I’m going to repurpose my .22 Discovery for the job.

Any recommendations, say under $300? If not I’ll opt out not looking to get all that invested for one specific target. Why not a light? I don’t want to attract unwanted attention. It could be seen from the road. Also It’s illegal to use artificial light to hunt frogs in my state. Night vision is not classified as artificial light and no law prohibits the use of it for this application. The state logic, I know..Appreciate any recommendations Thanks!

Not all cams have the IR filter in/ on them. They are easily removed though.

Had a buddy using an IR laser as his IR illuminator.... The possibilities are endless. If you are worried about messing up your main cam, just grab a used one off eBay to mod or an older model etc. so you can maintain the high quality video.

Here are some links to items I purchased to build my own.

I'll post about how it works after I get it built. Might even do a tutorial on the build.

These are the primary pieces needed. I'll post a full list after I get everything in and put together.

Edit: my build post is going to be a while. The primary components are apparently on a boat in the Pacific and won't get to me until sometime in August.
