Nielsen Slug after passing through a ground squirrel, Uragan . 30 cal

Did a little ground squirrel shooting yesterday in NorCal, took 11 of the ground bugs.

Shot the largest ground squirrel yet (in the bay area- Sierra Ground squirrels get huge) and found the slug laying in the dirt. As the title suggest, they were .30 cal 49 grains

I put tape next to the slugs- sliding out of the barrel at 840 fps, the average shot was 70 yards. Kudos to my buddy George who waxed two squirrels in a row at 100 yards with the property owner watching (hey everybody, watch this guy shoot those squirrels, he says to a guest visiting him- no pressure George!)

George was shooting his .22 Marauder with a Lothar barrel, and a bullpup stock- looks like sin, but he can hit with it.

Ignore the woods elf, look at that beaver!

Thanks guys!

I've not have to do anything with the rifle since Charlie Frear sent it to me.

It came shooting a little hot- 44 grain shoot at 930. The slugs might be slowing down when hitting the choke- it shoots them well enough and the distances on the little squirrel pigs seem to lengthen every year. The slugs not only make a very satisfying "pop" when applied to their fur but cheat the wind a little.

Pass throughs are a concern on some of the properties I shoot at, so it's a different game with a rifle that can carry a projectile farther than we are normally used to with our pellet slingers.
