Nice LCS Bling

Do most of you add tactical sleeves on your factory or aftermarket gages? I’m going to go out on a limb and say most do, on gages outside of the gun like mainly on bottle fed guns. The covers add a nice finishing touch and in a way add a layer of exterior protection to the Gage’s housing.

Many vendors cater to the 28mm and 23mm OD gages for tactical sleeve covers, due to the fact that most factory and aftermarket stay with the 28 and 23mm size. Ever try and source one for a 24.8 or rounded off, a 25mm gage? Like the ones that come on the LCS? Good luck with that. I even contacted Huma to check to make sure they didn’t have any in the back somewhere that got mistaken for 23mm sleeves, but no go on that. So maybe I can switch to a 28 or 23mm gage, right?

ive searched and searched for a nice gage to replace the factory ones but non are available in the M10 thread pitch that LCS uses. I found some thru AllieExpress, and they were the old school style labeled with FX on it, so those weren’t any better in the looks department. The one thing I did like about the LCS gages is they are color coded to show the regulated zone for shooting, along with pressure fill zone not to exceed.

Okay. So I’m stuck with the factory gage, and the only way to pretty it up is to sleeve it. No good in the aftermarket, so since I had an order of impact bottle to shroud clamps placed with Stuart Waudby, the owner of smwengineering.uk.com, I thought I might as well hit him up and see if he could make me custom covers for the LCS gages. He says “sketch it up, and let me see what I can do”.

So after sending him the dimensions along with a sketch, a week later he shows me this-

a cad drawing of exactly what it looks like with the angled perimeter just like I sketched it.

a bit concerned as I know the thickness of the material at 2mm will change the measurements at each angle, he reassured me that it’ll work perfect for the “rubber” type material he’s using to print them.
Rubber? I have so much to learn as far as 3D materials! Anyway, here is a pic of the “blah” /“ho humm” factory gage that I’m stuck with-

So here’s the new gage sleeves-

100% flexible- think RC toy truck tires flexible. At 2mm thick, and a nice 2mm return at the top to finish off the front of the gage, I have to say Stu did an awesome job on creating a sleeve/tactical cover for the much needed 25mm gages-

the way he designed the fabrication with the angled perimeter, it fit so perfect over the gage and is a nice tight fit. At the 2mm in thickness, it gave the gages a whole new, bulky look.

Great job, Stu, as always, and thank you!
