Newbie and Interested in Most Things Benjamin Bulldog

Hey Y’all. I’m new here, but I would occasionally read posts before joining the site. I don’t have a lot of shooting experience and I’m new to PCP air rifles. My first purchase was a Benjamin Bulldog bundle last summer. It came with a Center Point 6-20x50 TAG scope, a Benjamin bipod, a bag, mag, and sling. I’ve been exclusively shooting JSB Match Diabolo Exact .35 pellets 81.02 gr at paper targets w/wood backing from 50-65 yds. I’d like to improve my technique and aim. Ultimately I intend to use the Bulldog to hunt varmints, predators, and pests (raccoon, possums, wild hogs, coyotes). Eventually I’d like to add some modifications or maybe purchase a modified Bulldog. With that said, I have been reading and working to improve my shooting by learning proper technique and trying to make adjustments in areas of my performance (i.e using reticle mildots to compensate for pellet drop when shooting w/lower psi). I am a couple hundred rounds in and have tons to learn.

Today I have a couple of questions about search tips for this site. For example, I attempted to search for information on ways to use the Benjamin sling as a brace for shooting (while standing mostly). I typed in different word combinations and changed search categories, sifted through the results, but did not find the info that I’m searching for. I also tried switching between the “titles” and “content” search options. Later I searched for maintenance info specific to the Bulldog. I had better luck here, but the search results included a lot of information about other rifles that I’m currently not interested in. When I searched for info on Bulldog modifications I had an easier time, but still had to sift through irrelevant posts. So my question is, how can I better utilize the search functions and tools to narrow down my search results in order to avoid asking questions that have already been asked as well as to avoid reading a lot info that’s completely irrelevant? Help that leads to better search results would be appreciated.

I’ve never owned the Benjamin bulldog and can’t give you information on that but as far as using the sling to help you steady the gun when standing to shoot,It’s hard to explain but I just weave my arm through and around the sling and grip the forearm. There are different methods though that work better for certain people. I have always liked the military slings and they seem to work better for that purpose. I just looked up and it is easy to find. And that’s how I actually seen there was different methods Other than what I was using.

Ripper,

Thanks for the reply. I think I’ve seen that technique you’re referring to. I believe it’s called the “hasty sling” technique. I’ve tried and it appears the Benjamin sling I was sent is too short for that method unless I did something wrong. Not enough slack in the sling after wrapping around support wrist. There is a small loop on the end of an adjustable strap that tightens or loosens the sling. I’m thinking it may for a different technique. I’m searching for someone demonstrating sling techniques with this sling on a Bulldog.
