NEW YEARS RESOLUTION!

Ok guys writing this as a way of helping myself stick to said RESOLUTION!

1- Will not purchase a new airgun for 5yrs! (My reasoning A- I should be happy with the guns I already have, which by the way are diversified and already suit my needs well and should for yrs to come )

2- Price is getting to be a major factor in trying to keep pace with the latest and greatest ( A- need to spend more time getting proficient with what I already have, I plan on competing more in different disciplines? )

3- I love the electronic platform ( thank you Daystate! ) A- it’s potential is limitless and in 5yrs will have more manufacturers realizing this? And should have more to choose from? Also believe there will be rule changes in sanctioned competition’s and the fact we will be seeing additional styles and disciplines within these sanctioning bodies )

4- I forgot to mention the most important reason( I promised my wife I wouldn’t buy another gun for 5yrs to convince her to buy my last gun!!! )

I know this is just MY RESOLUTION, But feel free to comment or give your New Years Resolutions, and mostly Merry Christmas and have a Wonderful Happy New year!

I respect that resolution and wish you the best on your 5 year endeavor!!!! I am trying something similar by purchasing an airgun that has barrel kits and sticking with it to become as proficient as possible. I want one that goes from 22 to 30 caliber to keep my options open for hunting and plinking with adjustability being a major necessity. I probably should have kept my priest but I got wind of the new prophet and I started drooling lol. So I am hedging my money on it for the new year.

#1 & 2 - I agree completely, although 5 years sounds a bit extreme.

#3 - I like the electronic platform and zero cocking effort, but I'm less than thrilled with Daystate's support and quality control. I'd also like see some PC interface software for tuning, rather than having to spend hundreds more for their less than user-friendly handheld device.

5 years! I give you 1... and we will review :)

But I do agree with the fact of getting to know what you have before you start adding to the stock you have. I had to put my limit to 3 or I should say the wife has put the limit. I am still at 2 more than what she started with.

I am all in. Let's get 100% proficient with what we have.....

I’m still totally happy and satisfied with my almost two year old Compatto. I recently added the Bantam Sniper HR, which I’m really, really liking, it’s very quiet stock, whisper quiet with the Tanto attached. Both of these rifles do everything I need my PCPs to do, a pp700sa does the close range work. Lots of coin invested in a modest collection so I’m just going to chill and enjoy what I already have too.

My current favorite.

I agree with your goals as they fit with mine as well (sort of) ....

My favorite gun is my RedWolf 22 hp ... there's nothing like the electronic trigger and the insanely smooth lever. On the pup side, my Wildcat purrs... accurate, trouble free and fun to shoot! For the most part, the rest of my herd just sit in the gun safe or in their cases.

Now the sort of ... I got the itch to try the new Uragan, 30 cal. So, that's next on the list. Hopefully I'll have one right after the holidays. In the meantime, I need to sell a few rifles to free up funds for a new Safari in 2020.... that's my stretch goal! 🌟

Happy shooting 🐾

Ha! As a fellow addict, I'm going to act like one. Come on, man, one more won't hurt anything!Just kidding! I have gone just over a year since my last airgun purchase. To be honest, work and other pressing issues have kept me from shooting much this last year. I have a Huben K1 I haven't finished tuning yet, as well as a Wildcat 30 cal that is starting to feel unloved. Like some others here said, it's a good idea to get to know the guns you already have, before getting another. My Streamline and Bullboss, both in 25 cal, are exactly where I want them to be, so no more tinkering with them. So, although I really, really want a LCS SK-19, I'm going to sit tight for now. But don't worry. If you fall of the wagon, we'll all still love you here at Airgun Nation!

I don't know what all the fuss is about not buying another gun.... 🤔

I have spent way more on accessories (scopes, chronos, range finder, pellets/slugs) than on guns.... 😡

And let's not talk about the amount of hours of time "spent" surfing the forums, "researching" some gun or accessory.... 💀

Just multiply the hours you've spent on that by only half your hourly salary — for that amount of money you could buy A LOT of guns....! 😄

In that sense, happy Christmas shopping!

I don't think the addiction would allow me to do anything near to that! 😵 It requires a new gun every year or year and a half at most. As well as many pieces, parts and accessories in between. I am not able to sleep otherwise and end up spending all of my time in the forums and on the net looking for the latest and greatest of the airgun world. 😉 I wish you luck my friend.

I started my resolution a month ago, with the same thought pattern as the OP. I did a lot of thinking on this, and what I did was label each of my PCP’s (4 total plus a PRod) with a “duty”. It was then I realized I didn’t need anymore guns. I do have a bucket list which a lot of you have already fulfilled, and that is to compete at these EBR and RMAC benchrest competitions. When I feel I am ready, I will definitely then invest in a gun for that sole purpose. The Uragan 30 is on deck for that.

Im glad the words “master the gun” was mentioned, as I know I haven’t done that. Also, master the scope, and learn to use every feature about it. Too many times I buy something cause of all the bells and whistles, and never put in the time to learn how to use them.

I see a pattern now, with all pcp purchases. Now a scope is needed, scope mounts, an LDC, sling mounts, anti cant levels, scope covers, etc, etc. Yes, it’s not just the cost of the gun, but all the accessories. What I’m also finding, with the score of a new/used gun, is the newness wears off rather quickly. After it’s all set up, dialed in, what’s left to do? Boredom sets in, and that’s when I start to look into others.

Funny, but I have a good friend who says I need to invest in the Impact MK2, and sell everything else I own in pcp guns. I already know myself, and with all the aftermarket add ons to that gun, I decided that I would never invest in one of those, because I would want to trick it out with everything made for that gun. There’s something to be said about the KISS principle, isn’t there?

Yeah, I’m done. Till I get up off my butt and compete, I’m done buying guns.
