New Weihrauch HW97K

Sighting in my new Weihrauch 97K. The gun range is closed, so I went out to the foothills east of Bakersfield, Ca. Hazy day, as it is this time of year. Put, after sighting in at 25 yards, I stretched it out to 50 yards. First I used the 7.87-grain pellets from JSB. They were a bit lose in the breech. Then a couple of others. Then bingo, the Crosman Premier in the 1250 piece box. Spot on! It was getting hot at 10 PM, so I loaded up. Monday, the nearby range north of town will be open. I will be there!

Congrats on the new .177 hw97k! A real workhorse of a spring gun and very accurate.

There is some excellent rabbit hunting out in your area too.

Try sitting on your butt resting the fore end on your knee while cupping your hand around the front of that knee to stabilize the gun with thumb and index finger like a V. May get better groups than off of a rest.

I keep telling folks about those boxed Premiers in Weihrauch guns!

Glad you have it shooting like you like it.

Wash and lube those things with White Lightnin chain lube. I think it will shoot even better, and never need cleaned. Works best in all of mine.

Those 97's are nice. My .20 used to like the boxed premiers, wish I could still find them. Seems like the .20 was just a fad, it shouldn't be, it really is a good cross between .177 and .22

From what I have read, the .20 was Dr. Beeman's favorite caliber. I have never had one, almost all of my air guns are .177.

I ordered the 97KT yesterday from Krale. I'll give the "boxed" Crosman Premiers a try. I keep forgetting about those. I usually focus on the JSB & AA.

Try JSB and H&N Baracuda and FTT in 20 caliber.

The JSB 10.34gr pellets shoot very well in HW97K's. So do the H&N Field Target Trophy 8.64gr pellets.

I'm a brand new shooter here in bakersfield and am still trying to find my bearings and where I can shoot. the range you're speaking of is 5 dogs right?

also nice gun. how has it faired since you first got it?

My two month old 97k is really a great rifle; it shoots the H&N Field Target Trophy 8.64gr pellets exceptionally well. I have a 1250 box of 10.5gr .177; would this be too heavy in the 97k?--BTW, 'would like to have some of that CA weather, but not likely in PA.

I have a used, new to me, HW97K in .177 and so far it seems to like the AA 8.4 in 4.52 size, but I need to try a few more styles.

Readyfisher9, nice looking rifle you have there! Man, the scenery where you are is beautiful. Nice to be able to jump in the vehicle, and cruse out to a place like that for some shooting!

My free range is close to my house. I can reach out to longer distances; the 5 Dog range is 25 yards and 15 yards. They do have a 100 yards range for centerfire, but noisy. The free place is quiet on weekdays, weekends have too many dirt bikes. Just waiting for cool weather and clean air. Half of California is on fire now, or so it seems.
