New video uploading now then headed to bed!

Thank you Haji!

Went out today for a little bit, 15 mph winds. Just a short video with a few clips. Looks like I turned the ocular focus in a bit too much. ;-)

I've been so busy shooting that I figured I'd visit with the farmers mostly (they like to chat). Got a few shots in. Best part was the two shots on the power lines. That particular farmer hates pigeons. He said they eat about $1,000.00 of feed per year. When I pulled in, I saw two pigeons sitting on the wire above the grain bin, so I parked next to his shed about 60 yds away and got set up over the roof. I didn't know he was in the shed until after the shot when I heard, "Nice!""

I laughed and told him I didn't know he was watching. He said he thought he heard a car and when he stepped out he noticed me lining up a shot so he stood still. As we were talking about the first shot, two more pigeons landed on the wire and he stood next to me as I shot the second one. He asked, "Is it really that easy?" I told him that the mid-range shots weren't that difficult, and he said he thought those were long shots. ;-)

Then he asked if we should walk up there check to see if the pigeons were dead. I said, "Oh they're dead for sure". Seemed he didn't believe me so we walked up there and found them planted in the deep snow. He said keep killin' 'em!!!

It is nice when you can show the farmers your handy work. Went to a existing permission a few days ago and met another farmer picking up some hay. Now I got another permission. Went to his farm later that day and talked to him and he was real excited to have me there. You know for the most part no body shoots pigeons and you can tell farmers are frustrated with them around doing damage. Manage to shoot three while I was there but don't now if he was watching. Bill

Starling had a nasty exit wound.

The first pigeon on the wire right here.

The second pigeon I have with me. I couldn't see an exit wound so the slug might be recoverable. I'm going to eat something quick and then cut into him and see if I can find it.

Dangit.....plucked the feathers off the pigeon before cutting and found a small exit wound.

What was amazing was that the entrance was pretty dramatic, into the right breast. Then a small hole out the left breast. Pretty much all the energy was dumped into it.....the slug probably had just enough to pop out.

Its okay, I'll recover one this year from a woodchuck most likely.

Nice!

If no one has shot there until now, there should be birds everywhere!

When I first started with the Benjamin Maximus, there were far more birds than I could handle with the single shot.

This time last year there were lots of birds. I probably shot maybe 1,500 birds at the dairy in the first year so they're pretty thin now.

Let us know how it goes!
