New To The Sport

Hey guys, so out of the blue I decided to get in to the sport. I visited my only local store that sold guns "AirGuns Of Arizona". I ended up walking out with a nice bronze Delta Wolf with scope and bipod. I have a 98 Cu Ft tank coming within two weeks. Is there anything else that im missing to have all the basic necessities to start out? Any suggestions would be nice! TIA

You will need a compressor as soon as you see how much it costs to fill that tank over and over again. The Yong Heng is about the best you can get for under 1200-$1600 and it only costs $300 so a pretty good deal.

Congrats on yer new gun, getting into the sport/hobby/obsession/sickness/addiction and jumping with both feet into the Dark Side where the money pit is. ;^)

It may not cost so much to...fill ones tank.

A "dive" shop in AZ might not be too easy to find, but I'd bet the local fire department might do it pretty inexpensively ! It also depends on how much one actually shoots.

I use a dive shop to fill mine. I can do a LOT of tank filling for the $1200 to $1600 noted above to buy a noisy compressor..! You must ALSO note that JUST a compressor is not the end of the buying. A good "water" separator or filter should also be on that bill to keep your gun free of moisture/water.

Man, you guys who can drop $3000 to $5000 plus on airguns and accessories trip me out!

Don't get me wrong! I am not deriding anyone. It is just hard for me to imagine justifying/rationalizing that much money for an airgun and accessories.

I guess I'll just keep on keeping on with my Fortitude Gen2 and a hand pump. Total spent on those less than $300. (grin)

Works for my pesting needs in my backyard anyway. (smile)

Now, back to you $$RICH$$ guys and your expensive airguns and accessories! LOL!

No offense intended.

Welcome to the airgun addiction, I’m glad I don’t live that close to an airgun dealer, I would be broke and divorced

LOL! Hahahaha! Already divorced... and almost broke, so a store with a good selection of airguns and accessories really close to me would not change anything much for me, except that maybe I could put my hands on and maybe test fire some airguns that I will never be able to justify/rationalize buying.

OK, ok, ok, ok... yeah... I would be broke too. (chuckle)

Welcome to AGN Tony. What a way to dive in (Head first) to the sport/hobby with that Delta Wolf. That's pretty awesome that you live close by to AoA. In regards to what else you need, if you don't already have a range finder, I suggest one. Other than that, try a variety of different ammo to see what your DW likes and stock up on it. We also don't know if you come from a firearm background so we don't know what you already have. BTW, out of curiosity, what does AoA charge for an airtank fill?

Im sure we have all been there, walking in with a budget in mind and walking out way over budget. I've shot a few guns in my life, so can't call my self an expert. For the funs of it, I decided to go this route. With a color like that, and the customization features on it that's hard to pass up sometimes! The different caliber options really caught my attention. Im sure ill keep the gun for a long time!

Also AOA only charges $15 for any size tank. Im around that side of town daily for work, so that may just be my best convenience. I stocked up on a Air Venturi 98 CuFt and 74 CuFt, both projected to be here within two weeks.

In my younger days I was addicted to a few hobbies, airguns and boats! Family couldnt afford so I started working another job, soon it was 3 jobs, but all the extra money paid for my kids braces and paid for my hobbies. Spent over 20 years working 3 jobs, but do have quite a few toys to play with. It all depends how much effort you want to put into toys!!

+1. I'd bet that Backstop (like most of us) may do some things that others view as frivolous. To the OP, welcome to the sport and what a way to jump in. Nice gun. Filling at AOA seems like a reasonable thing, glad you have that option.
