New to pcp can I get some options/opinions

Ok new to the pcp game looking to get into for the following

1-22 caliber For target, rabbits squirrels
2-quiet

3-$350-600 range

4- accuracy

5 50-60 shots per fill

repater either bolt or semi

also if 3 of us buy guns, is it better to buy one compressor and a couple portable tanks or just buy portable and refill at firestation

looking for brand and model names of guns pumps pellets

We are thinking outside the box a little and if poop hits the fan we feel these would be quiet game getters and save big ammo for bigger things As well as keeping our shooting skills intact

thanks

I 2nd the p-rod. Magazine fed, very miserly on air, accurate. Only downside is that it only comes with 1 magazine. You'll have to order two more. Easily upgradable for more power if wanted. Makes one heck of a carbine with the included shoulder stock. I love mine, gets shot a lot more than some of the high guns here.

I think we still have an AGN discount with crosman if you order direct. You'll have to ask around.

The Benjamin Marauder pistol or Prod a great entry pcp that may take it's owner to the higher steps of nirvana, if they so chose. 👀

I have a Prod and have it tuned to about 18 fpe. I get about 20 shots at that power level and a few more usable ones to finish out 3 magazines. It is accurate and has taken 12 squirrels out of my backyard population so far. Shots were at 25 yards or less. I hand pumped it until this week. I got it in May of last year. 25-35 pumps airs it back up depending on how far down I take the pressure. It's best pellet of the ones I've used are H&N FTT copper plated. It shoots inexpensive Crossman domed or hollow point well enough for plinking. I've taken a few squirrels with them too.

My 25 Caliber Avenger is much newer. I had to send it back to Air Venturi for a warranty repair because it was leaking but it holds air now. It is tuned to about 50 fpe and I get about 30 shots at that level. It took 250 pumps to air it up the first time. A more typical refill is about 100 pumps. It's favorite pellets are either the FX 25.4 or the JSB 33.95, not sure which shoots better. I need to try them at more than the 33 yard limit of my backyard. At 33 yards, I routinely get 1/4 inch groups from the Avenger from my home made bench rest. My Prod will do that sometimes but not as consistently. The Avenger is also easier to shoot this accurately. In addition to getting the leak fixed and finding a tune and pellets it likes I had to work on the trigger, however. It creeped too much for me until I put in a longer sear screw.

I got tired of pumping the Avenger and got a Yong Heng compressor. It fills either gun in seconds. I also have a used SCBA tank and I am waiting on the fill set for it. The first one I got off Amazon leaked terribly. If all you want to do is shoot from home or do a one day hunt you wouldn't need a tank.

For your budget and described needs I would probably get the Prod. But if you can pump an Avenger for awhile and save up some more money, an Avenger with a Yong Heng would be a great setup. It comes in 177 and 22 also and if you tuned it down to around 20 fpe it would take small game easily and get a lot more shots on a fill. l find it is a lot of fun to see little 1/4 inch groups appear in a target. My dog thinks it is a lot more fun when I drop a squirrel out of a tall tree for her to retrieve, however.

For a pump, an inexpensive chinese one works about as well as my Benjamin one. It also has a simple filter on it the Benjamin doesn't have. They are around $60. So you could have either of these guns with a pump for a little over $400. Leaves some money for pellets - you'll need it. I paid about $300 for my Yong Heng.

The m-rods and p-rods are good guns - I have both, m-rod in .177 and p-rod in .22. But I think you ought to look into a .22 Air Venturi Avenger. Mine is in .25, but I am thrilled with how tight it groups pellets. If I didn't already have .a .22 FX Royale 400, .22 Daystate Wolverine R and that .22 P-rod, I'd definitely get me a .22 Avenger.

The Avenger is good until you have to replace the poppet... and you will.
