Hey y'all,

Just received a very well kept Career Ultra 9mm for my collection. It arrived with air in it so my uncle and I took her out back to see what she would do. Man! She's a real firecracker! Those 81g JSB's were hitting hard! Can't wait to get into some slugs... Speaking of, what kinds of results have any of you been getting with similar rifles using slugs? Any recommendations rather than me buying a box of everything I think might fit in the breech and giving them a go?

I'm afraid Winter has finally set in here in Georgia, so I'll have to wait til Spring to get her out and run her through the chrony and do some tuning. I couldn't be happier with her as she's a real beauty and sure does some damage! I'll follow up when I have her all figured out and see what she likes for her steady diet. Stay warm, y'all.
 
I had a Career Ultra that was power tuned by Will Piatt and it shot slugs lights out. I cast EPP-UG slugs and Ballistic Products .360 round balls. The round balls worked better that JSB pellets. Brian what city are you in in GA?

BTW the older Korean barrels in Ultras, Fire 201 and Sam Yang Recluse were .258 so you will have to slug the barrel and size slugs to fit the bore.

It was designed around a 84g hollow base "pellet" - slug-. The first prototype made several trips back & forth working this up . A sample of these was to be shipped with every Career Ultra........... but. I;m willing to bet a buck the designed ammo would be #1 but with so much more in the way of solids these days could be a Ug or such, I would be trying something with a dished out back for better seating than a flat back wich did not used to work well at all w/out probe & lead work.

The Korean heavy ( they are redesigned & lighter now so?) was second best.

Originally they all need the pellet probe shimmed for side play then shot very well indeed, not a light weight rig tho. Pretty sure your thread is 12mm fine (?) if wanting to avoid using hearing protection.

Wow, blast from the past! The Career Ultra was one of my first big bores, maybe 15 years ago. 

Mine shot 90 grain round nose slugs the best. At that time, there was a guy called “Pellet Man” making really nice bullets for Airguns. Tried his bullets from 75 to 110 grain in HP and round nose and for whatever reason, my Ultra really loved the 90gn RN. The Korean 9mm pellets weren’t even in the running (but they were definitely cheaper). 

I’ll try to dig some up and take a picture. Pretty sure I have a handful of them left.
