New to air guns

Hopefully this is the correct forum, if not my apologies. Looking to get my first air gun. I will mainly be plinking, having for something to do while camping/fishing down time. At most critters trying to come into the house or cabin. Did not realize there were so many choices. I'm left handed, so I'm sure that narrows down the options. Any and all advices is greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard! You're lucky in that the options for left handed shooters has increased dramatically over the last few years. If you truly want to find an airgun with the help of input from this forum you'll have to give MORE info. What's your price range? PCP, Springer, CO2, Gas Ram, etc. You pose a question that has WAY too many unknown variables to point you in the right direction. We've ALL been there so don't feel like the Lone Ranger. Good luck on your journey!

Hello as you stated there are many choices. What size critters are you looking to dispatch? Here are a few options and its pros and cons.

spring guns (self contained no need for an extra air source)

HW 30 Pros : light, easy to shoot and cock, can take game up to squirrel size. Con: limited to squirrel size game

Diana 54 Pros: accurate , easy to shoot, more power than HW30 so can take larger game/critters raccoon/woodchuck Cons: heavy

pcp guns (needs an extra air source pump, cylinder, or compressor)

Benjamin marauder pistol/carbine Pros: quiet, accurate, light, 32 shots per fill, squirrel size game Cons: limited to squirrel size game

Benjamin marauder rifle Pros: quiet, accurate, more power than pistol version and 25 cal available as well, larger game/critters raccoon/woodchuck Con: heavy

All the high end end pcps will do what the Benjamin Marauders will do with a lot higher price tag, maybe a better shot count depending on the gun and a little better accuracy but I just listed a few quality starter guns what should worry free and easy to accessorize. Hope this helps if you have a specific question about a specific gun just ask there are many people here who have or have had that gun and can give you first hand experience. Good luck in what you choose and I hope this was some help Eric

id get a prod, a compact scope like a bug buster, and a 50$ amazon handpump to start with ... there wont be any regrets there, and you can branch out later to a more task specific gun from there .. but the prod is one of the most effective pesting guns there is .. you could spend any amount of money and not be more effective around the house .. its just short to mid range which is where all the 'pests' are ... plinking now you could do better .. soend a few grand on the ultimate setup to fart around splitting playing cards at 100y if thats more important .. or if the pests are larger like bigger than squirrrls a .25 would be better .. but yeah prod has the bulk of things covered for an entry level price - accuracy, compact, quality, and is the one shot one kill 'final solution' on most pests lol ..
