New Ted video finally! Crown vs Royale

I think the point is if you want to compare anything to the smooth-x avalible at the moment in .25cal compare it shooting Jsb 25g Kings only. It is a 1:28 twist barrel designed specifically for that pellet.
There will be a liner/twist rate that will be a better match for the King Heavies and it will likely be more like 1:16 twist rate. The beauty of the system is when the best combination of twist rate choke or no choke ect has been worked out and you have the smooth-x barrel for around $100 you can get yourself one.
The same will apply for other pellets or slugs.

Ted was suggesting that even the amount of rifling down the barrel will be an option. That is maybe only 1/2 the barrel is rifled. Ted didn’t use the smooth-x at EBR because the currently available linner is 1:28 twist and he’s smooth twist shoots the 34g King Heavies better. As he eluded this will change in the future.

In my opinion, we are all held back by the poor characteristics of all and any "skirted" pellet, in any caliber. Swaged "boattail" or similar "bullets" will have the BC and characteristics necessary for bucking the wind and real accuracy. The next stage will be to legalize these "bullets" for competition. I just bought some NSA pellets, bullets, that I will test and chrony in the Spring ..... when it warms up, up here in PA.

Pappy - I tend to agree that the bullets are the next technical revolution to come to air guns. The guns have the power to drive a heavier projectile and the market is there for the bullet manufacturers to enter and make some $$ along the way. Pellet ballistic coefficients are pathetic compared to a boat tail design. only problem is the weight of the bullet. Using .22 for example, the typical pellets weigh 18 gr or under, trying to design a boat tail that is in the same weight class is a real challenge. With more powerful PCP's out there, the weights can go up, and hopefully gain more accuracy.

As for the guns, if I could have an Impact with the Smooth Twist X barrel, I think that would be my choice. The standard smooth twist doesn't handle bullets as well as the X barrel (at least initial reviews indicate that the X is slightly better than the smooth twist with bullets). Since I believe bullets are the future, I'd like a gun that can handle said bullets.

Still a couple months from ordering (have enough for the gun, now saving for the scope so I can buy the whole package all at once), so maybe they'll put the Impact out with the X barrel.
