If the tank is a K or din valve lubing the oring with a light coat of silicone grease will keep the ring from drying out and when they dry out they won’t hold air pressure . I didn’t use Teflon tape on the valve that screws into the neck of the tank as there is an oring there to stop air leaks I don’t think it would hurt if you did 1 layer of tape
