New shooting range goodies...

My boys and I have a shooting range set up on our property that allows us to shoot out to 70 yards without leaving the yard. I built a shooting bench a while back to improve our range and we have lots of cool paper targets set up. However, my boys are 9 and 11 years old and get bored with paper targets pretty easily. We go to the river and shoot a lot which is a blast but we needed something more entertaining when at our home range.

I was planning on making a small dueling tree and surprising them with it but couldn't find plans for one I could make with the tools I have. So instead, I finally bought a dueling tree and some other goodies. We haven't even had time to shoot yet and my boys are as excited as can be. I bought a Dueling tree, tic-tac-toe game, Ferris wheel target, exploding golf balls, an ABC square metal gong, 5 metal ABC swinging targets, 8 metal animal targets, 250 plastic army men, and we already had swinging golf balls, clay pigeons and exploding bottle caps. I think it's going to be money well spent for the boys and I.

Anybody have any other cool ideas for targets we could add to our shooting gallery? We'd love to keep adding cool stuff to shoot!

Had my wife get me a lot of 50 little 2 inch rubber ducks for Christmas on eBay. Haven't shot them much yet because of the weather but the holes are mostly self healing and they fly off the stand pretty good. They are big enough to shoot at 100 yards from a bench yet still competitive off hand at closer ranges. There are lots of good idea's here.

5 & 3 oz tin cans, mini cans, catfood, tuna, chicken, ham.Toss them out there, hang them on a stick, a nail and post, from a tree. stick some 2" pasters on them with pirate smiles. Pine cones if you got a pine tree. Attach a length of twine to the cans and toss them as high as ya can in a tree. The twine will snag a branch. Wifey might object to that 1,lol Where the Targets are,and the challenge will change day to day as they come down. And a couple good old 4" to 6" DINGERS ! a satisfying sound.

I’ve taken one and two litter bottle caps and packed them with flour. I set them up on end and shot them. I’ll even make a small hole in the side of the cap and put them on nails that I’ll driven through a board to hold them up so wind doesn’t knock them over. They’ll make a nice white cloud when hit. You can even reuse them several times before they get too shot up.
