I received a new Revere last week in .22. It is shooting very well. I noticed that the barrel shroud is free floated in the barrel ring, so a slight metallic rattle is heard when slightly bumping the rifle. Wanting to check for POI stability, I shot the circled group below, one shot per day for 5 days. It was in the yard, where my maximum distance is 25 yards, seated and using a shooting stick. I had considered using some tape around the shroud to muffle the rattle, but think it's good, and I'll leave it alone. The trigger was a little tricky to get adjusted as I wanted, but I think it's going to be a very nice rifle.

I was told it's normal. Frankly, as long as it shoots this well, it can rattle away! I didn't want to remove the float. Every rifle I've owned, assuming a solid barrel attachment at the breech, has shot better free floated. The Revere barrel is anchored solid with 4 opposite facing screws, so I'm not worried about it not returning to zero.

I also received a revere about 3 weeks ago. Mine had the same rattle that drove me crazy. I used my mill to drill holes at an angle for set screws on each side. This pushes the barrel upward to the barrel band and away from the air tube. Very quite now and still shoots extremely well. I don’t care if it’s designed to be free floating or not, I don’t won’t the gun sounding like a toy when I shoot it. Here are pics of the mod and a 5 shot group at 50 yards shortly after the mod.

Same here (got a left handed stock version).. personally I couldn't live with the rattle and some other minor QC things, esp have another Revere (right handed stock) I bought not too long ago thats in perfect condition compared to this recent purchase. Returned it; vendor said nothing wrong with; rest of the stock there are the same. I asked for store credit as I can't live with it (and others they may send me displaying same). Will sit out this recent batch of Reveres. Am sure it shoots fine as you guys shown, however something is not right...just my personal take. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Was thinking it was me.

Not sure I'm following. When you refer to the barrel, are you talking about the barrel proper, or the shroud? IOW, are you pressing the barrel against the shroud, or the shroud against the band? I hope it continues to work well for you. The issue that often arises with using any type of pressure point, is consistency in changing conditions, which can move POI. Regarding the sound, I don't notice any sound when shooting, only when handling the rifle, if small bumps are involved.

(I know you're not asking me @elh0102, at least I dont think.) Not sure about others but I heard it coming from the inside of the shroud... like the barrel or something was bumping around. Initially thought my ldc was loosely attached; confirmed thats not it either. Drove me crazy. Damn the love of a rifle. Lol.

Sorry, no my question was for Beanland. Before I would put any pressure on the shroud, I would just remove the cylnder/barrel ring. I tried mine without it, and it still shot great. When you consider that there are many fine rifles that use no such support, I question its need at all. But, I figure the engineers who designed it might know better. But just consider, none of the bottle rifles use such things, and the best cylinder BR rifles are free floated.

We should distinguish the difference between the barrel shroud making some noise against the ring (normal), and a loose air stripper within the shroud (not normal). If you hold the barrel and cylinder, shake the rifle and still hear a rattle, that's a different issue.

See my post above. My shroud was laying against the air cylinder which is making the noise when shot. The barrel could possibly still be free floated inside the shroud. I don’t know because I haven’t had it apart and and don’t really know how much clearance the liner has inside the shroud. I really don’t even care because it’s quiet now and it shoots great. And yes. I know about bench rest rifles and extremely accurate rifles and what pressure points can do to accuracy. I build custom centerfire rifles for a living. This is working for me so that’s the way it will stay.

Good to know. Very interesting. I guess I was spoiled by the first Revere I had... which was physically and cosmetically perfect relatively speaking. My first Daystate product. Was so impressed which was what prompted me to go for the left handed version (cuz am southpawed). Then when got this 'lefty' was like what happened here... was this made in England or in China?? Paid a premium however barrel/shroud was rattling; fill cover wouldn't rotate freely or rotate a full 360 (minor but still); air tube paint/surface was not even from one side to another; one side was smooth/matte surface while other side had noticeable dimples on its surface; Daystate logo was not sharp looking; had a faint light shadow outline around it. Anyway was really disappointed having waited so long for this lefty to be avail.

When I got my gun. I put a scope on it and I had to put a bunch of right windage in it. I mean a whole bunch. Got to looking and the barrel band was actually twisted to the left putting left pressure on the barrel. It was very obvious. The gun shot great and was quite. I loosened the three set screws and let it spring back strait. That’s when I noticed that the barrel shroud was loose in the band. You could the hit side of the butt stock with the palm of your hand and you could here the shroud rattle against the air tube. See if you can wiggle the shroud inside the band and if there is clearance around the shroud.

Mine sighted Pretty easy. At first it was shooting about 3/4 to the right and 3 inches low. I went in my room and grab my gun and shook it violently. Then I bumped The stock with the side of my fist. Then I tapped on the end of the barrel up and down and sideways. Then I grabbed the end of the barrel and tried to move it inside the band. There was just a very tiny bit of movement when I grabbed the barrel and tried to move it in all directions. It actually seems like it only has a few thousands of clearance. It seems OK to me.
