My buddy said a few months back, hell build your own spot back there!

So I've been stockpiling scraps that were gonna get tossed anyways for a month or so. Last Saturday started assembling, some of the "joists" are 5 pieces to make one.

DId all the cuts yesterday with a handsaw including all the 3/4 plywood like a settler!

Well Jimmy called it, walked back there on Sunday and got off the trail about 10 feet from the first feeder. Walking with my head down a bit all of a sudden I hear kind of thrashing.

Me and a good sized black bear each got scared by each other, he jumped his ass up the very tree my feeder is on! I backed off about 30 feet and he was now about 20ft high and huffing at me. I left for about 30 mins then came back making lots of noise, I got to the same place and gave one more yell. I hear him running and smashing through the brush. Time to go, I imagine my feeders are trashed.

I'm not gonna let that deter me, I've worked in proximity to bears and have had many encounters. Bought a 12ga and some slugs and buckshot last night. Gonna pack both guns around when I'm there. As a last resort, if he charges or gets a little too curious hes gonna get it. Warning shot first of course I dont want to shoot it.

Well after the bear tore down my feeders twice, I ran a pile of 2.5 inch screws from the inside out and really secured it to the tree. Also got it about 8 feet up in the tree.

Passed the first weeks test!

Before the bear visit.

Been there a week and "something" tore all the moss off. Looks like the bark but hes just taken the moss off.

Got a few fox squirrels this am, more to follow. Plenty of berries out there hopefully the bear sticks to them from now on.
