New, or new to me?

Hello All,

It’s been a while since I posted on the forum. I thought that y’all may find this subject of interest.

I sold my large carbon bottle within the past year to a fella on the forum. All was good with the transaction, but I was left bottleless. I purchased a Hill EC-3000, so I wasn’t without air. I’ve had my eye on a smaller bottle for quite some time now. I recently received an automated email that the 100ci bottle were back in stock, so I made a call to confirm and purchased it. I was actually quite surprised that I got through. I’ve called this vendor on and off since the pandemic started and I never got through.. so be it. I just tried to reach them after receiving the tank today and my call was dropped after 20 minutes on hold.

So, am I seeing this accurately, is my born on date 08/20? If so, I just paid full price for less than 14 years left. I’ve heard about things getting held up at the port, but this was held up for 14 months?? Are things this bad, or am I missing something?

I would explain it to you, but AGN forbids discussions about politics.

If I didn’t miss something in my post, I definitely missed something in yours?

Me too. Definitely missing something….

With respect to your original question, its quite possible that you got a tank that had been hanging around In the distribution system for the past year.

It could easily have been manufactured in August 2020, then took 3-4 months to be shipped out of Korea, so we are up to December. Then took 4 months to get to the US, so now its April. It could have sat offshore outside LA for 2 months, got offloaded and sat at the port for 2 months, so now it’s June. It then takes 2 months to get to the dealer, where it sat for two months until you purchased it.

Fact of life these days.

Don't think these expensive bottle fly off the shelves. Realistically you have easy 20 years because it's DOT certified some shop will be extended hydro test. If you fill at home like a lot of us then it really doesn't matter outside a piece of mind. Personally I would use a 15 year old made in USA DOT tank than a Chinese ebay tank that's brand new, just me.

There is a lot of stupid flying around these days. Politicians on both sides have been just horrible about dividing the population. Foreign adversaries are equally adept at driving the narrative on both sides and wedging the middle.

Michael (AND THE REST OF US) have elected to leave politics to be discussed elsewhere. One of the reasons that I PERSONALLY like that is it lets me be friends with gentlemen that I vehemently disagree with when we talk politics. These are other Christian men who simply don't see the world the way I see it.

There was a time, not so long ago, when people could get together and agree to disagree without assuming the other fellow was a lying, crooked, moron who could not possibly love his country. It seems that time is long past and now it has become nearly IMPOSSIBLE to simply CHECK ONES POLITICS AT THE DOOR ON A DAMN AIR GUN FORUM.

So now you understand, @Backstop

If you guys don’t understand what BackStop is talking about then you need to get better informed on what’s going on in the world today.

Same for you, but let me add, there is a very real PROBABILITY I would completely agree with your political opinion. Maybe join GETTR if you feel the need to exercise your free speech rights WRT the criminals who are the "UNIPARTY" running DC?

Come on guys, give it a rest. Who knows you might find an ally from the other side...

That's a shame but these days we need to take what we can get and give thanks for that. The bottle I bought is out of date and I will probably just build a bomb proof enclosure to use it with my fill station. Unless I find a sweet deal on a bottle somewhere.

I did some research and all carbon, steel and aluminum bottles can be hydro tested forever. There is no DOT listed life time for these bottles. HOWEVER! Composite bottle has a life span of 15 years that is clearly defined in DOT regulation. So as long as you stay away from composite and stick to DOT carbon bottles you are good for easy 20 years as long as it passes hydro test. Speaking of which I need to get my Scott carbon bottle hydro tested, it expires next month. Doh!
