New Impact, Lots of testing.

New member here and glad to be aboard. I have been reading for a while, and waiting for the shipment from Sweden to arrive. I really wanted Impact but was going to also consider the Streamline. The shipment came in and I finally got to inspect both guns last Tuesday.

Now I am not sure if this has any bearing, as it shouldn't, but I live in Canada. Now the Impact comes with a shroud but the Streamlines don't. You can get Marauders with shrouds and other guns also. The shrouds are suppose to not deaden sound.

Being as I love the look of a shrouded barrel it killed the deal on the Streamline for me. Before all of this started I mainly considered the Streamline as all the Impacts coming in this shipment were already pre-spoken for. A few guys backed out giving me the opportunity to buy one.

So now I have the Impact but all my good glass is on powder burners. I have a ton of crap scopes from old gun pulls so for now it has to do. Now keeping in mind I have no A.O. and have tons of paralax issues with this junk pile.

First things first, I try the gun as it came.......Boring..... Not as accurate as I hoped so lets change everything lol.. To be fair I was using no rest, unsorted pellets. I guess I should about now say I bought my Impact in .25 and bought 5 tins of Mark 2 heavys.

I messed with settings until I saw some reasonable groups and I am still tuning after 350 rounds. I love the way it is so quick and easy to switch things around. I started by shooting groups over the chrony on max, then 5, then 4, so on. All that starting with a baseline of 4 turns out on the hammer adjuster.

Fast forward to today. We have had wind everyday but I keep testing to see what I can achieve. So far my best is 16 shots at 50 yards .892 ctc. Wind is 13 with gusts of 20kmhr. I am still tuning though and I'm sure the gun has a lot more in it as one flyer opened that group up to what it was. Without the flyer the 15 shot group was .545 ctc.

What I try to do is try one setting then fire a 16 shot group. What I have found is tuning the hammer stop adjuster is the absolute biggest factor in accuracy for me. My best 16 string is 822.2 low, 825.9 high, 824.6 avg, e.s. 3.7 and the chrony would not read the s.d. I assume because its below 1. This may of been a fluke/lucky string as most average out about 1.4 s.d or so.

Now I have not cleaned the barrel ever, just shot it out of the box. Once I get it to where I want it I will try cleaning the barrel. Now if I could only find the Sightron scope I want in stock I would be laughing. I may have to pull the old Bausch and lomb fixed 36 off my Winchester 52C until I can get a new scope.

Bottom line, I am happy I did not listen to the naysayers. I love my Impact.

I used a rock br front rest with a leather top and a leather rear bag. Once I get the gun where I want I know I can get some small 5 shot groups. That and a real scope. Here are some typical 16 shot groups from today I shot while tuning.
