New Impact Issues

"MP44"After fighting with the Impact for 4 shooting sessions I asked for a refund. After work on Monday and Tuesday, I tried to sight it in but it sprayed pellets and change POI. My last two groups on Wednesday showed promise but I had to stop as it was near the reg pressure ( 140? ). Today I pulled it out to find it was shooting high and two (2) inches to the right, it was missing the index card I had the target sticker on.

I changed the scope and rings and still had the same problem of fighting to sight it in. I gave up, put the scope back on my other PCP, a Marauder, and had that rifle sighted in in 3 shots.

I tried JSB Kings, King Heavy & AA 25.4gr

The note from AoA basically said nothing was wrong with the Impact

The dealer I purchased it from said they would contact AoA for an RA and let me know from there.

Aww I hope you get that return. I'm sure fx will get it sorted in their next generations. I am disappointed that your issue wasn't resolved. The impact is the most complex gun I have ever seen. Did you try messing with regulator, valve stem, and hammer spring? Tuning the gun is an extremely time consuming task. I too am starting to think the impact is just not the gun for me. I was messing with the power wheel. Tiny ball bearing pops out and lost forever :(. Now I'll have at wait for it to get replacement.

Just received mine after being in service for a little over a month.
1. Reg has been fixed.
2. Barrel has been replaced.
3. Folks swapped .25 barrel cap to .30 caps to avoid pellets clipping on edges.

As a result... sound of a shot is much sharper for some reason. It seems like a hammer hits louder., but not harder.. not sure why.
Groups are great now, the rifle is shooting one little hole from 25 yards if rifle is fixed in vise. Literally one hole.

It also can shoot JSB Kings at ~954 fps now... which is probably tooo fast.

probably the rest of the experienced "Impacters" know about the power wheel adjustment. set your power wheel on MAX and look @ the slide in front of the wheel . it should have LITTLE or NO MOVEMENT. 1.5 mm Allen wrench. loose allows variations in the power in a random manner. I am having the same problem as you. I will start of with a full tank and shoot a 50yd group of 10 in less than a quarter then all of a sudden POI shifts. group still is in a quarter but about an inch off. this will move back to original POI or maybe pick another poi about an inch off. I am perplexed with it. it shot better new. however after searching you tube for "tuning fx impact" I found video demonstrating this adjustment.
its raining cats and dogs today so I wont have chance to check for awhile but my adjusmentt was nearly a !/4" loose!!!!!!! it has to make a difference. I don't know what but it will!!!

if you have a slack in the power wheel, i would expect only lowered power consistently.
you guys are maxed out anyway on the power wheel no?

after the adjustments I made earlier (prior post) I am now shooting @ 950-970 fps. I know that is high. according to most that is.
I shoot 100 to 150 yds. I have a wildcat 22 for closer shooting. (did I mention the impact is 25?) shooting JSB 25.39 (I'm going to get some Mark II heavy hitters and check them out. anyway. I am knocking small propane bottles around @ 115 and 135 yds. in the wind. just what I want mine to do. I would like a rifle that hits a Bullseye @100 yds. but what I really want is it to take a ground hog out @100yds rabbits and squirrels around there also. I'm pretty satisfied @ this time. I'll wait until the weather settles down and gives me some smooth shooting to check the Bullseye/zero. right now I'm zeroed @ 25yds. I usually zero @ 50yds. It uses a lot of air @ this level. But, I have a compressor and 10 air bottles!. you don't have to worry about your Ferrari getting 4 miles a gallon if you own the gas company!!!! %)

My Impact after several issues in the past is now shooting as i would hope and i'm happy as Hell. 4 trips to AOA, and a trip to Ernest and 1000 or rounds at the range it shoots 1 - 2 MOA at all ranges out to 100 yards 90% of the time. Todays trip to the ranges i did PW test then picked the best group, and ran some VS adjustments 5 shots most groups then picked a winner and move down range. All targets are MOA 50 yards .5, 1, 1.5 inch circles or square, the same at 75 and 100 yards.

Pw:

VS:

100 yards:

bottom right was 16 shots, the wind was 5-8 MPH, left to right.

Final setup is 34 grain MK2, Reg 120/125, PW C, VS 3.4, FPS 833, FPE 52
