Having been pleased with my .22 HW100, I just bought a second one in .177. Both are the "K", or carbine versions with laminate stock. I prefer the balance of the shorter carbine, and the laminate stock has an adjustable comb, which I find very desirable. My reason for posting, I have read numerous reviews of the the HW100 in .177, and they consistently report it being delivered shooting too hot, as high as 1,100 fps with a 10 grain pellet. At that speed, I would expect unacceptable accuracy, especially at 40-50 yards, or more. Well, it's good news/bad news with the carbine. The .22 shoots slower than many folks would want, mine is now set at around 880 fps, but with the 16 grain pellet, and a good tune with the 18 is around 830 in my rifle. But, the .177 was delivered shooting slightly over 900 fps with pellets in the 10 grain range, depending on the specific pellet. A slight HST adjustment got it around 880, I figured no need to mess with the reg. So, the carbine seems especially well suited to the .177. My guess, they use the same reg set point in both full length rifle and carbine, and the difference is the barrel length. I think the Weihrauch site indicates an approximate 7 inch difference in barrel length, which is a lot. But, the charts on the Weihrauch site practically defy human understanding, so I'm not sure of the exact difference, but it's substantial. With its short cylinder, shot count isn't great, I think I'm getting 45-50 in the .77, which is adequate for my needs.
